1. Looks ok, not a huge fan of light trails, but thats's just me,. Water looks pretty deep!

2. I would have moved back a little to give more of the circular silhouette. I would also add a little contrast.

3. This tunnel looks awesome, but stop shooting 4:3 - it sucks!

4. Potential for an amazing shot. Difficult to get away with such a shot on Digital. Shooting film wouldn't blow any of the highlights. You could try shooting with a higher f number - that would help.

5. Awesome junction, but looks a little flat lighting wise.

6. Nice and moody, good use of natural light.

7. Can't see anything.

Good work, some top drains there!

Thanks for the feedback man. The camera I was using took a swim, so now I have to start using something different anyways. These are my first drain photos without flash, so I was pretty happy with how they turned out.

Nice! 3 and 4 are my personal favorites! 5 is a bit odd looking i think the composition is a little off. The last shot is a little dull, other than that great shots.

sorry your camera took a drink! #6 looks better if you crop out the top portion with the bright opening, it distracts from the subtle light in the background, imho.

I really like number 6. Even with the bright grate at the top. It really makes you feel like the drain is huge, and quite mysterious. How tall was that drain? From the picture it looks like maybe 15 feet from top to bottom. Impressive. Excellent job.

1. Nice light trails, but overall it doesn't do much for me. It's not bad, by any means, but doesn't make me say oooh! like some of the others you posted in this set.
2. I love the location, but it looks a little flat to me. I'm not sure what to suggest exactly, but perhaps playing around with different lighting and angles might help. I don't think the photo as is shows off the spot as well as it could.
3. Mmmm, crusty red brick. Perhaps someone holding a light further down around the bend of the tunnel would help a bit - but then, that would make it look like a Sub-Urban London pic, and you wouldn't want that. ;)
4. This is my favorite of the set - tasty.
5. Great location! I would suggest perhaps experimenting with a couple different light sources/temperatures to show off the junction a bit better.
6. Huge! I'm not sure what to suggest, as I really like it. But perhaps framing the shot a little differently might help? I disagree with the suggestion by someone else to crop out the upper opening - I think that including that really helps show the depth of the drain.
7. It's too dark, but with a longer exposure the natural light would look very cool.

Nice set! Tell us more about that lovely red brick tunnel! I look forward to seeing your next batch of drain porn with the new camera.

#3 is really great, It's a great blend of light and dark.

I will have to agree that #1 is most excellent.
#3 also has some really cool colors in it.

I also agree with the statement previously made that the top on #6 should be cropped. The light coming from the top of the pic really does distract you from looking down the tunnel, which is the focus of the picture.

Really nice work

More thoughts about #6: First, it could use a bit more contrast, even at the expense of losing some of the details of the tunnel. But I see perhaps two different shots here. The top grate does detract from the composition as is, if only because it competes with the light further down the tunnel. However, the pool of light from it is really cool (especially when the contrast is cranked up a bit), so perhaps a shot from the other side, with only darkness behind it, would be more effective? Just a thought.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I tried a different camera in a drain not far from this one yesterday and didnt like the results. It might be a few days before I get any more up with a third camera I have access to, but I'll keep all your comments in mind and try and improve.

the color in #3 is great. i think, compositionally speaking, #2 is really good. if you can get back into the site, you should play with the light in that spot. nice shots!
