It takes a while to propagate to the AOL DNS servers.

she. and no. I was saying doing ipconfig/flushdns didn't work correctly. It also wouldn't matter anyway, as you aren't always using your own dns server. Like I'm at college, so it goes with theirs, so it doesn't really help.

99% of the people are not using thier own dns, but flush dns clears the records on your own PC. Av put that command there because sometimes your isp dns may have been updated but your computer is still using old records.

Why Sun if you're not going to run Solaris? I know you built this on ASP so you need windows, but why buy a Sun server to run windows? HP or Dell is the obvious choice.

Seems fast and good though, nice work.

Because HP and Dell servers suck ass.

I priced out a Dell box similar to the Sun one I got -- the prices were very close, with one major difference: the Dell box did not come with any form of Lights Out Module, let alone a super-fucking-sweet one like the one in the Sun box (it has a built-in IPKVM!).

Also, I hate both Dell *AND* HP. They're both shitty companies that make shitty products. I'm sure their server departments are a little better, but it's still the same company, and the same crap.

My cable company just dropped my internet connection form 5mbps to 1 for no reason, so everything is slower for me now.

I administer over 200 Dells and they all work beautifully, and have for the past 8 years. The 10 HP/Compaqs however are complete shite.

Yeah, except he's one guy working on one computer. That's not what you call efficient. Throw 200+ systems in there and see how he fares.

Well, we had two guys do 3 servers and we were messed up for a month, lost data, pigs being slaughtered, etc.

So you don't think that moving a site with 530,000 files and some 30,000,000 database records, tons of custom plugins and apps, and more, from a 32-bit system to a 64-bit one with newer versions of everything, in less than 4 hours, over the internet with no physical access to the originating box, is not a worthy accomplishment?
