I got an MSA Advantage 200 LS for $10 bucks and a box of 50 pairs of P100 cartages for it for $20 bucks off of ebay. (all new and sealed in the factory bags.) I am happy with it.

If you want to upgrade from your hand/shirt, goto Home Depot or a store like that and buy a 20 pack of those paper masks, theyll run about 8 bucks.

Those do shit for asbestos and lead and other nasties.

Well I know that asbestos needs to be filtered, because the particles are very fine. I dont think it does anything for that, but maybe general dust. It's still not worth it until you get so sick from it that you hacking for days afterwards.

Your health is worth $40, if not stick to barns as Dsankt said. Lots of places dont have asbestos....

You need an N100 or P100 rated masks at least to protect you from asbestos. I seen these masks for 10 bucks in the "paper" format. Here is one:

I don't think they are anywhere near as comfortable as my MSA Advantage though.

Only problem with the respy's at Home Depot or Lowes is that they're all Mediums, and I have a Nice fat Irish Head. On the otehr hand, i have half a dozen P100 cartridges that I stole from the construction crews @ Met state hospital
