Um, it looks very blue, and, aside from what's in the lower right hand corner, pretty good.

Funny coming from someone that got oh so mad when people trashed her horrible disrespecting goth pictures. Flashlight as sunset muahahah. Anyways I like it other than the mark in the bottom right corner. Different from the usual around here which is nice.

1. Not ue 2. Not ue 3. Not ue Solution: post ue photos in the ue photo critiques forum. More specific to this shot: as mentioned, colour balance is off. It's not sharp anywhere, and there's crazy fringing going on with the sun. Never put the sun in the middle of a photo - it's not only bad composition, it's also a great way to burn dead spots into your sensor and/or eyeball. Never put the sun in the top left or right corners either, in case you were considering changing it. The foreground crap is distracting, but that doesn't matter all that much since there's no real subject to distract from anyways. Overall, no compelling reason to look at the photo. You need a subject, either in the foreground or the background, preferably both (and preferably covered with dust, rust or peeling paint, considering the website you're posting on). You need a composition, which means lines or angles that lead the eye to different places within the image, rather than simply to the 'back' button on my browser. You need to make sure the technical issues are dealt with (focus, colour, contrast, etc.). Most of all, you need to take some time and think - before you take the photo - about what might make a compelling, interesting image that will have some sort of emotional or visual effect on the person viewing the photo. You also need to ask yourself after you've taken the photo: have I done all of this? Any of this? If not, consider trying again before posting the shot. Go to the library and find Photography and the Art of Seeing by Freeman Patterson. Work through all the suggestions in the book, try it all out, then rethink this photo you posted and how you'd shoot it again. It's composition 101 in a book, and it will help.

| | | mortimer has already said everything I can think of -- so all I have to ask is, this looked like a cell phone camera shot. WHich might explain that shit WB issue u might be having. That, and the crap at the bottom really IS distracting.

Number 1. This is a exploring photo forum. This is not exploring. Number 2. What were you trying to achieve? All I can see it a blown out, out of focus, badly framed (digital zoom?), snapshot. Which is never good. Number 3. Its has a huge black smudge in the lower right section. What is this? IMPROVEMENTS** If you insist on taking a (frankly dull) picture of the sun. Then get it properly in focus, try a quicker shutter speed to get rid of the bleaching of the sky around the sun, and also get rid of whatever is making that black smudge.
I wasn't being funny in the first place, really. I was just answering this from yourself..
"but I want to know what you guys are thinking about this shot." hope this helps.. turk ;) [last edit 1/31/2007 11:11 PM by turkey - edited 1 times]

If its do'able, do it! |
