| | | Ok so they arent UE but I would still like some feed back. Basically I suck at taking pictures but I'd like to get better. Right now all I have is a Kodak easyshare until I can afford a nicer camera. I just started paying attention to the pictures I was taking so I'm still a beginner! 1 2 3

| | | Lose the date stamp and try using a tripod. You'll find your photos will improve drastically

| | | Watch your backfocus.. If you're going for the close ups, you should have a setting to put the foreground in focus instead of the background. and learn your manual settings as well. It's not that you need a better camera, just learn the manual settings with exposure and white balance, and the aperture. it'll help get rid of that "washed out" look. ^_^

Yea, a very common oversight. A lot of digi-cams have a close-focus setting, shown by a flower symbol, and landscape option (infinite focus) shown by a mountain symbol. When shooting things close-up, use the flower setting.

Normally I dont. I just felt like taking some in the snow so I did. Most of my other pics, I wont post cos they suck or are of random trips.

BUT it is somewhere familiar and good to practice your manual settings on. You don't have to worry about running away, so you have time to get a subject and fix the angle, exposure, etc. which will help in real locations, because you won't be so clumsy with the manual settings. You can see a good subject, fix the settings, take the pic an be on your way much faster. I think it's a good idea to practice around the house or yard, myself. But that's just my opinion..

Hmm, not sure I agree with that too much. To get really good pictures, I think you need to be moved by the target in the shot. If your not interested, then your not guna pull the shot off... turk ;) |

| | | But if you have weird shit in your yard like I do, then it's great. I've got funky trees and a garden that hasn't been used in years, and a partial brick wall out front with lots of ivy.. makes for interesting shots for me. It's helped me work on angles and my focus too. It just depends on what ya got, i guess.. [last edit 1/29/2007 9:23 PM by IrIsHmOm - edited 1 times]

but we weren't talking about your backyard, the three photos in question are a wooden fence, a pot, and a plant. i'm not saying its impossible to make these things look neat, but the photos in this thread are as boring as they come around here.

I agree. You can find more interesting places rather than your backyard to "practice" taking pics. even if they are public
