Yeah, we definitely fucked this kids day up.
I want to see Jannx post some photos, i think that could be fun.

Besides, we are only having fun here. Its not like we are trying to make Etownsomethingorother feel like shit about their life.

I think this kid knows we were joking. But he/she does need to get closer.

Ok you guys are not that hot.. your tacky and tasteless comments to a person asking for some criticism in a constructive manner should be just that constructive.

Personally I think the shot has a great feel, the comp is very foreboding, and you have managed to fit the entire building into the frame. This is good. Also you kept the horizon line horizontal… few people in UE can do this. Finally it was probably an oversight but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you decided to deliberately omit having half naked or naked women hidden or superimposed over the shot.. this was a brilliant move.

I love this shot for it’s journalist spareness and honesty.

Hope this helps.

Jannx

not ALL of the comments made in this thread have been tacky and tasteless. i still stand behind my LAME criticism. lol. im sorry but if youre gonna look at the caliber of some peoples work in this forum and then throw that shit up, youre asking for a flaming. this forum has really gone downhill the past few months. especially the critique forum. theres a ton of crappy funsaver camera snapshots in here and people saying "d00d, those roxor!!!!!!!!!! thanks for sharing!!!" worded in 50 different ways, when really the photography SUCKS. i usually try not to cut down other peoples work since mine is far from amazing, but you know what if i know my work SUCKS i dont post it because i know it SUCKS so why waste peoples time with it.

and he doesnt deserve an award for leaving out naked people. like 5 percent of the photos on this site use models. thats like saying he deserves an award for not hdr-ing it. it makes no sense.

yes he managed to fit the entire building in the frame. as well as concrete barriers, trees, roads and lots of other shit that doesnt need to be there. so what good is that the building looks like an afterhtought hidden behind everything else.

its a snapshot. get over it. theres no "journalistic honest" here. its not deserving of a serious critique.

This thread should get a sticky to it and be re-named "Please think before you post". That's not a direct diss to the original guy who wanted the critique, but I know I'm sick of peoples camera puking up images and then they post 30 images wanting a critique.

People need to learn that they need to decide what is best (for many reasons, exposure, composition, etc) THEMSELVES. SInce this person put up one shot I think were improving around here.

As for the whole naked chick thing, I'm sick and tired of seeing this shit on flickr. For some reason horn-ballz decide that sticking a naked woman in an abandonment is sooo original. All it is soft-pRon masquerading as cheap art.Its so much sadder when the model is baddly photoshoped in.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here. If you cant get people to look at your work without plastering it with naked eye-candy, u need to re-evalute what your doing. Or stop.

I havent seen this here, but the Toronto flickr contingent has been happyly producing this shit for months.

Although I think there are about 4 other inside jokes operating here, this thread is still SO funny that I'm giggling just writing this.

BTW Jannx was kidding, although he's much nicer then the rest of us. He wont tell someone when they suck.

Also, my masterpiece is now available as a limited edition print. Pls PM me for info.

The joke is losing its momentum.

I was pissing myself over this thread a few days ago, now i'm merely dribbling.
That only means one thing. We need more horrible photoshopped versions of this person's image!

Or a new thread of crap? Have you guys heard of photoshop tennis? If not, someone ups a shot and another person works on it, and up it back and they continue to do this until its deemed to stop.

This can be for both improvement, but most often then not-- the detriment of an image. Its usually done by two people, but can be done as a group with established rules.

Never heard of that.
I might try it sometime... If i ever get photoshop.

I'm still warming up to it. I am on the fence between it being the devil and being good.

It looks devilishly familar...

You can get a legit beta version of the new PS. Go to adobe and download it. Then if you search on digg.com there is a thread on what file to delete. I posted it here once, but cannot remember where. I was having problems with it conflicting with my CS so I uninstalled it. U can also probably get this version on bittorent with the info in a zip.

Picasa is cool too. Just dont use their online photo hosting feature. Their terms are unreal.

The only thing is, if you delete that file, it just takes away the annoying message telling you to register/ buy it.
That is only what i have heard, though.
I think i heard that after 30 days, it goes to the shitty version of photoshop with less features even though you got rid of the file.
