| | | I borrowed a Rebel XT for a couple days to shoot with. This was my first time shooting anything other than a point and shoot so bear with me. I was shooting with the presets (I know I need to learn manual settings). Also, I don't know anything about post processing so I did what I could but I didn't even end up cropping most of them. | | | I just got a rebel so I know how you feel. I agree with IrIsHmOm, there really isn’t a lot to look at in some of them. If you’re going show me an old crumbling wall have it be a very special crumbling wall. I don’t know if that means just getting better acquainted with the settings of your camera or just changing the way you set up your photos (or both), but from what I can see you very likely capable of it. I do really like number 2.

| | | im still kinda noobish to this whole thing, but ill try to help 1. I like your idea, however i dont think it was executed to its full potential. I think the pic woulda turned outbetter if it was shot head on, or even shot close next to one of the electrical outlets with the other two in the background. also the left seems alot brighter than the right which seems a bit odd to me. 2. here the pic is a bit blurry. and i think the angle is a bit boring. perhaps get closer to the subject and focus in more. 3. my favorite of the set. i love the colors, the angle, and the textures. the levels are good and there arnt any blown out hilights from the window. thumbs up. 4. my eyes are searching for a subject to focus in on. maybe focus in on one label and have the other needles blurred in the background. 5. i like the angle you close and i think choosing to place the subject on the right adds to the picture. the only downside is the subject is a bit boring and the colors are a little washed out. 6. this one is very cool. i liek the angle you choose on this picture. maybe its just me but the pic seems a bit crooked. i see that its angled inward on the leftmost wall yet is straight on the furthest wall. it would be best to rotate the pic so the leftmost wall is paralell with the edge of the boarder. maybe im wrong on this one but i feel this would help. 7. again i think my eyes are trying to search for a subject to focus in on. the tiles are not really anything out of the ordinary so i think this pic maybe should be taken out of the set. 8. see critiques for picture 1. they can apply here too. 9. i like the picture alot. the angle is unique too. the only gripe i have here is the paper isnt focused in on clearly. looks blurry. 10. i love the textures here. but yet again the picture looks blurry and lacks crisp edges. hope this helps. the pics have potential but i think some focus issues really take away from this set. also, learn to master your p&s camera before you jump feet first into the world of digital slr's. yes theyre nice cameras but without the proper knowledge, theyre useless and a waste of money. once you learn more and gain experience, then an slr is a good choice.
