|  | | | I was at an architectural salvage yard on friday for work, and it was my job to photo-document the entire place. while doing this i got some cool shots, and wanted to get some serious critiques on how i could improve them... thanks everyone.

| | | | 1. This is good. I would crop out the incomplete frame on the left side - it's distracting.
2. This is good because of the snow. It adds to the black and white feel, and gives another level to the shot.
3. The decaying paint adds to the black and white. You took a good angle on this one, and the detail is very crisp. I like it.
4. I don't like this one very much. The shot is a tiny bit blurry and my eyes are attempting to focus on more than one thing at a time.
5. Again, this one is a little fuzzy. I would like it a lot more if you had left out the area on the right.
6. I like this one, despite the fact that the background is washed out beyond belief. The actual subject speaks volumes. It has the rusty touch, which I'm a sucker for.
7. I don't like this one at all. There's nothing to look at because there's too much to look at, if you get it. Everything is distracting from everything else and I can't focus on any one subject.
8. I love it. This is by far my favorite of the set. All of the drawers have their own individual levels, and their own shades of grey. I can't recommend a thing to fix this.
9. This isn't bad. I think a better angle might fix the shot. The signposts distract from all the sinks, which the more I look at, the more I like.
10. You've got a really good idea here. I'm a sucker for mirror shots too. Since you shot in such an unusual position, the camera twitched a bit and the shot came out just a little blurry. Again, you pulled off the multiple level trick very well.
These are good work. I've never seen any of your pictures before, but I'm definitely looking forward to more.

5) I like it because you got a reflection.
6) Like I said before, this one is my favorite!

8) This one is really good too. The botton right corner is distracting though..
9) Not into this one at all...
10) A little soft but a good composition.
Be watching for new ones from me the end of this week ^_^

The rest I have the feeling that they're neither a "scenery" pic nor a "detail" pic. Personally I would take the shots with more of the surroundings and less space for the main motif. Especially 1-4 are too close up.

yeah i was having trouble with that, the place was so crammed with stuff that i thought that some of these pics would be way to cluttered to be good. I will post some that i took for work so that everyone can see what i am talking about.
thanks for the critique, the practice with the new camera was worth the trip.

8. Definitely my favorite of the set, composition and exposure are both great. This photo would be amazing with a shallow depth of field.
9. Top down shot, maybe if there wasn't so much debris around your subject it'd catch my eye more.
10. Neat self portrait.
Overall not bad, just work on your composition and it'll help a lot.

thanks i still feel like i need to do some work on it, i am not really that happy with the top right corner right now. i just cant get it right. but once i do it will really be one of my favs...
