Has this ever happen to you?

I recently explored an old warehouse. It was almost dark and I couldn't see anything, I stepped in a hole in the floor and lost a shoe. I thought it was funny till I stepped on broken glass. I didn't get cut but was wondering if this has ever happened to anybody? Pics to come of the warehouse

I would've dug for the shoe rather than walk around an abandoned area barefoot.

Closest to that happening to me would be walking through a mildly muddy field to an abandoned house and stepping in a deep spot of mud, yanked my foot out and suddenly realized the shoe was no longer there. So I had to dig through the mud......

That was a pretty shitty day. Turned out the house had been demolished too.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Never had that problem as I wear boots and I lace them up tight.

I very recently stepped higher than knee-deep in mud.
Luckily i took my shoe off ahead of time.
But, minutes later, i ended up splitting my toe wide open.

Combat Boots.

The first set of boots I used to explore in didn't have any sort of steel protection in them. But thanks to a favor I got in return for computer service above and beyond my pervue, an instructor at the college I work for had a pair of custom steel insoles manufactured for me...the next day in an abandoned house I stepped on a nail.

Damn I was glad to have that shank in them.

I'm not a fan of steel toe boots, because I wear my boots to work, i work around a lot of big heavy objects, and my boss's friend lost his toes to his steel toe boots breaking on him. So I'll stick to my regular boots.

This was on mythbusters. I think they came to the conclusion that if the force was enough to bend the steel enough to cause damage to your toes, your foot would be in even worse shape without it.

So I'll stick to my steel toe boots. They saved me a few times already.

No but a friend of mine stepped on a closed ventilation grating. Turns out the grating was movable and still greased up pretty good cause it opened and his leg fell through. His shoe went flying off down to the floor below, and the weight of his body pinched the grating closed against his leg.

That happened to me during the renovation of Flexicore, I went the long way around up the tension wires only to find a stream of mud... and I was wearing boots. Then... I was wearing boot.

Leave only footprints, take only pictures... unless its like really cool.

I've gotten my foot caught in a hole in a cement floor, and I couldn't get it out. Finally, I took my foot out of my boot and pulled the boot out. The reason I couldn't get my foot out was because a large nail/spike had went through the bottom of it. If I would have had shoes or sneakers on it would have been ugly. Invest in a good pair of boots. Waterproof by the way is a HUGE plus. My boots are bright red and I only wear them when I go exploring. Everytime I put those red boots on my husband says "Oh geez, where are you going NOW . . . . .

well, i've never lost a shoe to exploring. but one time exploring, my friend told me to watch out for a hole. as soon as i get done asking,"what hole?", i stepped through it. pretty funny, but yea, holes are never fun, they're pretty nefarious foes.

A couple months ago I was wandering around under the city in my good 'ol chest waders. I was walking on a sand bar and took a step on what I though was also sand only to find out it was sludge. I sunk into that shit up to my knee (about 2 feet) before hitting the bottom. It took quite a bit of gentle tugging to get my damn leg out without tearing my chest waders... And what did I find back there in the tunnel? Fuck all...
