This isn't bad, but I'm not really happy with it. I'm not digging the massive red/orange tint to everything, even though that's more or less how it was in real life. I couldn't do much with it in Photoshop, but that's probably just because I'm not that good with it yet.

Nice shot WR! I like it. Brought back memories for me thanks.
I used to work 1 block from the south leg.
It never looked like that though.

you keept posting hdr images with photomatrix stamped all over them

if youre gonna keep using it why not just buy it or find a pirated version instead of posting images with that crap all over it

Yeah, I know, I know, just ignore it for now. I didn't have DSL until literally today. All future HDRs will be Photomatix stamp-free.

That looks pretty cool. But my eyes kind of find it hard to focus on some things. I think you should zoom in a bit more to have the hight of the photo be like the top of that ark and then just have the skyline left and right.

What camera did you get?

I got another Sony F828. I wanted the hologram AF again. Sort of wishing I had just spent the extra dough on a DSLR, though.

I would've if I'd known, although I ended up paying less than 500 for the f828 I got anyway. Actually, I got such a good deal that I still wonder if I got a stolen camera.

If you're not going to pay for photomatrix at least spend the time to clone out the logo....it's in the water and the sky...cloning it out would be easy.

The HDR on this looks allright but the saturation is wayyyyyyy too high. It seems like a lot of people are doing HDR and then thinking that doing that means they don't have to do any other post processing. Drop the saturation and sharpen this, at least.

I've got a registered copy now. I didn't have internet (except some flaky dialup) at home until last night.

I can account for at least part of why the picture's a little "soft" or whatever. I think the tripod might have moved slightly (the wind was blowing REALLY bad), and I couldn't align the images in Photomatix because the difference in the water's ripples in each picture kept fucking up the alignment's attempts.

You're right about the saturation, though. I'm not really thrilled about how bright and red it is. The only post-processing I bothered doing was turning up the contrast a bit.

Yea it's just a personal thing with me: I don't like my work to be out there unless it's 100% finished. Cloning it out wouldn't have been hard.

Yea, like I said it's not bad at all, just pop a saturation adjustment layer in there and crank it down a bit. USM should help with the softness as well.

I made a new version that I think looks better (and no more Photomatix stamps).

That's pretty sweet. The Arch is something that definitely lends itself to artistic photography.

first of all i think you have come a long way in your hdr attempts. these are getting really really good.

i would be interested in seeing what the sky on the first pic, and the bldg and water on the second would look like.

that might be really cool...

anyway keep working with it, you are getting really good.

whats interesting about this is that there is no detail gained in the subject. i assume you want the viewer to look at the arch, but the only real detail retained in the arch is at its bases, which arent interesting at all. all the details are gained in the water, which is distracting from the arch and undermines the whole point of the photo.

Okay, so... Tell me what I should actually do to it? Because I'm only half-understanding what you mean anyway.
