| | | | Stealth style wanderings (NO 56k) < on 1/7/2007 8:19 PM >
| | | 'twas early in the pre-dawn and Raticus had driven an hour from his home just to call and roust me from my peaceful slumber. What was the plan for today? Super-secret-stealthy-ninja-style-infiltration! Well, not really - there was much clanking and cursing and rattling as we somehow managed to throw ourselves through the small opening found, with some assistance from the third member, B. Very cool place, not exactly easy to be inconspicuous, with this location being dead across from government buildings and butted up next to federally leased offices. It was a lot of fun though, got to meet Raticus for the first time and had fun exploring with him - we were out for about 5 hours or so and checked out two locations. Bit of history on the first place: Built in the mid 1920s, this hotel was host to two murders and one unexplained death: a stabbing involving a broom, a butcher knife and a meat cleaver; a shooting involving two prominent local men: the doctor and the jeweler; a man slumped over in a bathtub with his head and shoulders underneath the faucet and water trickling out and down the drain. | | | Lord, that's a great location. Can you give any more history of the place? Also, I'd dearly love to see more of the interior if you have photos. Thanks!

| | | elbowgeek - I do have the entire history, but since it is a rather risky place and there's very little graffiti in there, I'd rather not get too specific about it. Raticus - I can't wait to see your pictures of it! 2X - there's a funny story involving the car we took and the police being called. Also, Raticus had a little run-in with a duct taped man when he first went over. All in all it was an awesome trip.

| | | I'm awake now, been asleep this afternoon. The DuctTape man scarred the shit out of me, almost literally, so I had to come home and take a beauty nap. I'll work on my pics in a few minutes and try to get some on here. I agree with Violentrapture.... this place is basically untouched, though it's in rough shape. It's really sad that things are getting so bad, around Texas at least, that we're all afraid to share information. People are tearing the shit out of stuff. I can't believe it. I'll work on my pics. | | | ooh, very nice - I especially like numbers 1, 6 and 9. 1 especially - the mood in that with ghostly trails of a person moving around is just perfect.

You just like lookin' at your own butt! Excellent shots, Rat! There are a couple just begging for desaturation. Especially that staircase.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

| | | Thanks everyone. Speaking of butts, I didn't even know you took that picture of me and B standing in front of the elevator room, but it looks like someone has given me an atomic wedgie in that shot. I think I've figured out though why. When the duct taped man scarred the shit out of me, my ass was sucking wind so hard that it sucked my jeans up my ass crack. Yeah, that's what happened.

It is. That is the duct tape bastard that took 20 years off my life and ruined a perfectly good pair of hanes underwear on that dark, cold, and dreary morning.
