| | | | Ghost Town - Tear It Up < on 1/4/2007 6:23 PM >
| | | My last post got me tons of good advice, and I have been trying to apply it to my photography. There is a famous (among ghost towners) photo of this place taken about 10 years ago. This is my interpretation of that photo and of the building today. Let me have it, and thanks for your critiques.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | I remember the original photo and you did it pretty good justice, but if I'm not mistaken wasnt the original a bit further back? Nice work none the less.

You are absolutely right. I got closer and cropped a little differently because there is now a pile of trash just to the buildings right. Thanks for the input.

| | | I really like the angle you shot this from, it give a lot of depth to the building. Great job! If you could provide a link to the other post about this place or have some information about the town, it would be cool to read.
We must always fear the wicked. But there is another kind of evil that we must fear the most, and that is the indifference of good men. |

| | | i really like this picture, but the house itself seems kinda hazy or something. it could just be the sun washing it out i guess, but something is off for me. i dont think that it is out of focus, just washed out or something. can anyone else explain this better than i am???

| | | I think i have seen the original picture, I wonder how it would look if the building wasnt as far to the right but its still good. What kind of camra did you use or did you dull down the picture when you posted it because the color is really soft and dull

| | | The camera is a little Olympus D510 point and shoot. I didnt' do anything to the color in processing. What you see is what you get.

| | | Get some actual black into those shadows and this one kicks ass. Right now it's missing about a third of the tonal range it should have. Darkening the shadows and leaving the mids and highlights as is will also turn those nice clouds into an incredibly dramatic sky. My 2 cents.
yep. |

| | | I don't know the original, so I can't comment on how it compares. But I would have liked to have seen more of the sky. Maybe shoot it portrait instead of landscape. B&W would work really well with this subject, too.

| | | Jonsered, Do you know where to find a copy of the original? I searched for a little while yesterday but couldn't even remember where I'd seen it so it was like searching for a needle in a haystack.

| | | I thought I had a copy around somewhere, but I can't put my hands on it. I'll keep looking. The place isn't actually in a ghost town, so I don't know how to tell you to search for it.
