| | | I try to do as much in-camera as I can - I'm a big fan of filters, and as long as there's sun out there's a polarizer on whatever lens I'm using, along with various ND grad filters, etc. My post-processing workflow usually consists of minor curves adjustment layers, selective color adjustment layers and sharpening, but that's about it. Here is a shot directly from the .nef file, nothing done to it other than resizing: You can see from the direction of the sun that it's just about a perfect angle for the polarizer to kick in and saturate the sky.

| | | What's an .nef file? Is that something Nikon specific (but basically a RAW file)?

| | | ayep - Nikon's RAW file format. Canon is .crw, Olympus is .orf, Fuji is .raf, Minolta is .mrw, Sony is .srf, Kodak is .kdc or .dcr, Pentax is .pef Would be so much nicer if everybody moved to .dng

| | | In the long run .dng is a good idea, but Adobe (and Apple, for that matter) seem to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to the different formats. Someone always will. I use a Canon DSLR and have been considering moving to Nikon and my biggest concern is what to do about lenses, not file formats - but uniformity would be nice.
