| | | | Flash or No Flash, that is the question < on 12/20/2006 6:55 PM >
| | | I posted most of these pictures under my local thread but after getting some positive reviews I have decided to post them here and get some more viewpoints. I just bought a simple Canon Point and Shoot and do not have a tripod, although I already see the bonuses of them, and the main purpose I take photos is to remember but let me know what you think. Also with the last two groups tell me without using photoshop to change them is flash or no flash better. 1.

| | | Definetely no flash. It makes the picture look creepier and dirty. Could have used a tripod for the no flash toilet shot, then you can increase the exposure time a bit so you could see more texture and detail of the surrounding wall and floor. For just a simple point and shoot camera, not bad overall. Blue

Been to that place a good half dozen times and my friend has been their dozens of times and that was the first time either of us ever took a step into that room because of that reason. But I guess a lot of the photographers here might also think, put a camera in my hand and caution goes to the wind.

| | | In general, no flash is the only way to go, buy you need to get a tripod for that to work most of the time... unless there is a convenient object to stabilize your camera on and enough natural light. 6b is better then 6a as it is right now, but if you could do it right with some extra lighting and a tripod, no flash would have some real potential.

| | | depends on the situation. the flash on a point and shoot is for catching those little rascals running around the christmas tree after a few brownies, and nothing else. don't use it. get a new one.

Yes I agree with that. Thats all this pic needs. For 3 I would say to straighten it out and take a tripod. Tone down that window just a bit, mabe that will look better. The first one I like. It would look better on a tripod and a 28 lens on it. Lower down just a bit and move to your left one foot. I beleve that would go good with that. Other then that there are some nice shots but just need a little bit of work. Keep at it.

| | | I don't think flash is our friend. But I must say it really lit up that toilet and showed it for what it really was. Frickin' scary. Thanks for sharing!

| | | Never use the flash. If additional light is needed, then light paint.

| | | Manitou I have to disagree, you can use flash. You just can't use the flash attached to your camera. You can do all sorts of things using flash that you can't do with light painting. Don't get me wrong, I like light painting, but it's not a be all end all. Flash and light painting both have their uses, you just need to know when and how to properly use any technique, and not many people seem to know how to use flash successfully.
