| | | So now they call it urban exploration. 30 years ago I started going into abandoned houses, working my way up to warehouses and my personal favorite, a convent from the 1800's. Then came college and marriage and kids and my explorations fell by the wayside. I've had a recent bout with cancer and now have decided this is a good time to get back, life is too short! Seeing the movie "session 9" also got me going again since the Danvers Hospital is within an hour of where I live. I've recently hit an abandoned amusement park and a revolutionary cemetary. Back then there wasn't the security there seems to be today. I feel like I'm alone in this seeing nobody in my peer group is interested. Didn't even know all these websites existed, been out of the loop a long time! Would be great if I could find some contacts in my area, Massachusetts, along with some decent places to check out. I even heard there are "tours" that you can go on but haven't found any such thing. Any info would be welcomed, thanks!

| | | Debi, you seem really down to earth, the kind of new member everyone will want to see around and help out. The only thing is, I would fill out the location part of your profile if I were you, so that explorers in your area will know that you're close by, and they'll be able to treat you like a local.
It seemed like a good idea at the time... |

| | | Hey Debi, welcome back. I'm in somewhat of a same boat as you as far as having explored long ago and then coming back to it. You should also check out the regional forums, that way if there is someone close to your area, you don't have to search and search and search on these forums, its just right there. Good luck!
