| | | guys, I'm well aware of the quality of the photo. It sucks, I know. Its poorly composed, its very blurry, and I've definitely taken better in my time, however something about the shot captivated me even in its flaws. That's what makes a photo interesting, find something extraordinary in something so ordinary. I just thought I'd share it with you all, negative opinions and positive ones. I see both sides of the arguments and I agree with both, but for now, its my picture, I like it, that's all that matters in the end. So for those who enjoyed or who sparked interest in my photo thanks, and for those who didn't like it, I wholeheartedly welcome your criticism and look forward to more in the future. Again, by all means, this isn't a jaw dropping photo, but for some unknown reason, it makes me stop and take another look at it. And lol to the comment about the chair and chipping paint

Also, the shot was taken with the dying battery of a Fujifilm FinePix z1. Not a camera phone.

EXACTLY! I agree that you DO need a $4000 camera to take good pictures. Mommy need not buy it though! Daddy could buy it too. Or you could steal another explorer's camera that they lost whilst evading security. You could sell plasma. If you're a chick, you could sell your eggs (but only if you are attractive and intelligent. Likewise for guys, but no one is paying top dollar for semen these days (well Jacko is, but only if you are 12 and look like McCauley!) So there are lots of ways to get that expensive camera.

| | | IT was a $300 camera, and i got it as a xmas present last year. And while it's not $4000 it can still pack a punch when it wants to. hell view my image gallery on deviant art. www.jilline0.deviantart.com very few are taken by my phone but most are taken from the camera i mentioned. Everyone knows that you need a Canon MkIIn to take the best shots. I mean, only professionals use them and wack amateur photographers with small penis complexes and far too much money in their bank accounts. I used to know a guy who shot with one -- he was terrible. He couldnt even figure out how to correct the white balance. A cheap digital camera (a point and shoot I mean) can take good shots doing almost anything but low light and night shots. But there really is no reason for anyone to be paying upwards of $7000 for a camera.

| | | if you can't understand or take criticism, don't sign up for any photography classes. don't take any art classes at all. in fact, just give up now. keep your pictures in your photobucket account. i don't judge based on the price or features of a camera. i judge based on the quality of the ARTWORK. that's what we're here to do. i've seen great pictures from (in terms of image quality) from $60 old Nikon EM's shooting old ektachrome 64 that rival $1,000 dSLR's. posters on this forum are extremely easy-going with their critiques -- which is something i've voiced my displeasure about in the past.

| | | I agree. You dont need a fancy camera (even though I have one, that mommy didnt buy), but you do need good lighting and composition. Without that all you got is a snapshot, and probably not a very interesting one at that! Some of my favorite shots were taken with a $20 Holga. Compo and lighting!

| | | i hope u dont take this the wrong way, b ut if u didnt want criticism on your pic, u shoulda posted it in the photogrphy section. it has its strong points and its weak points. people usually know their good points and come to this board in search of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. now thats said, i do think some members that posted in this thread need to learn CONSTRUCTIVE criticism rather than flaming someones work. hey now, i dont even have a camera. i bum my brothers sony dsc-t1 point and shoot and use that all the time. and i think im using it well for my skill level ;]

| | | i can take criticism very well, but there is a big difference between voicing your opinion to better future photographs and to just flat out say "your shit sucks, die now" Im surprised this thread has gone sooo far out of hand. its just a photo, which i even said sucked. I just liked that it was different. i dont need people going on about im horrific at photos and should just end my life now lol. If you dont like it, so be it, you do, awesome, have suggestions as to how I can take better photos, great, but there's nothing more to it.

| | | You guys are taking on two of the best photographers on this board. I wouldnt suggest saying their mothers bought them expensive cameras since, well, they dont live with mum! It is a boring photo. Just say it. I mean, as stated above, if you cant take criticism, dont get into art. And that couldnt be more true. And jesus, dont get yer panties in a bundle over it!

Ignore all these fuckers, sweetie.. like i said before i like random shit. ^_~ Plus you already explained the pic and that you know it wasnt the best quality, and you still get flamed. Don't even listen to them. I like it. They don't like my shit either, apparently, so whatever.. they're too picky apparently and expect everybody elses stuff to look as perfect as theirs... I am disgusted with the way some people behave on here sometimes...

Do tell, why? Is it because he is a pretensious ass who thinks he is the final word on all things photo? That said, sometimes he has some wise words. . . . Did you ever see his comments about UE and UE photography? Not flattering.

| | | Posted by DevilC Do tell, why? Is it because he is a pretensious ass who thinks he is the final word on all things photo? That said, sometimes he has some wise words. . . . I don't find him to be a pretentious ass. I think I'd actually prefer that. Instead, he's more like the Matt Drudge of online photography world who thinks it's his duty to "tell it like it is". Unfortunately this usually results in bad advice that's based more on ignorance and his own personal preference for Nikon gear than anything else. As well, his own hypersaturated, over-processed stock photography is, for the most part, really fucking awful and because of that it's hard for me to take anything he says seriously. I honestly have no idea how he got to where he is today.

Nuff said.
