Took this one in Arizona recently. I like it, but it is missing a certain something. Critique is much appreciated.

Something in the background, like a flock of crows or a moon. Not the sun.

And a nipple.

Color is what's missing. Deserts need deep rich reds and such.

It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Sorry, I couldn't resist..

But on a serious note, jacking up the contrast and cropping it tighter (by 25% or so) should help this one. Either that or change the aspect ratio and get rid of some of the sky because there's a bit too much dead space up there.

Haha thats great. I would have positioned it in my picture a little differently. But play up on the saturation and what not.

There is something seriously wrong with some of you people!

I intentionally didn't lighten it up, because I thought the dead sky and the dead building sort of fit. It just looked foreboding. As for color, the desert in Winter doesnt' have a lot of color. That being said, I see what ya'll are pointing at. I appreciate the comments, and I'll see what I can do next time.

Thanks!

Yeah, I have no problem with the lack of bright colours. And if anything, by add contrast, I would rather darken the lower mids, and leave the high mids alone. Contrast doesn't have to mean more colour or lightening things. Anyway, if you want to email me a larger version, I can do a quick photoshop working (sans nipple moons) and show you what I mean.

The roof was on fire. We didn't need no water.

The grass in the bottom left and the rocks on the right are distracting. The rocks leave you wanting to see more of them, and the grass is just in the way. Maybe thats what is bugging ya? Since i know the desert very well (utah mostly), i know what colors the brush should be. Ill take a turn editing the picture. Cropped, contrast, brightness, saturation, and sharpening.

Jonsered can you give me the full size original unedited pic?

Maybe... It just feels a bit empty. I know it's supposed to be desolate and remote, but it's empty. It's a good shot, but.... *sigh* I don't know...

I'd crop it narrow and high, leave the shack in the bottom third. But I'm biased like that. If I had photo shop or something on the work computer, I'd do it.
