First critique: Don't post 18 photos
Second: If you're doing self-portraits... try something creative with them. Just sitting there? Meh.

#4: You should be ashamed of yourself.

#5: Perspective correct it, or turn off Tilt-o-vision.

#6: See #5

#14 is nice. As are #9, #15, and #17.

The others... meh.

Why not?

Because if you want a more substantial critique on your images than a one like "dude! awesome!", fewer is better. Being able to self-select and parse down photos is a valuable skill to learn.

Basically, yes. A horrible photoshop treatment does not save an otherwise boring and uninspired photo. Start with a better base photo and go from there. The photo above it suffers the same fate. What is that? Picasa's Focal B&W tool? Masks in photoshop work much better and you won't have the glow outside the gas mask. Plus your framing on both is, again, uninspired. #10 has much better composition.

Who says photos should be straight?

No one. But when they are just a little off horizontal, it looks sloppy and like you just didn't get your horizon right. If you're going to make them off-horizontal, it is better to make it look like you meant it. Your's don't look intentional.

haha! yokes, why? the use of photoshop?

alias-
as far as the pics, i like the way the light looks peeking through everything on many shots.
#1 for example. if you had taken the pic even darker you might have been able to get a beam of light. try it next time you are there. this is one of those shots that i like both ways. but i've been on a beam of light kick lately.

#4- i actually like it, but more as an artistic expression. maybe you should put that separate from the rest of the gallery under the other pics and declare it with it's own title. i think it's fun though. reminds me of a diesel jeans add or something i would see in the subway in nyc.

#5 is nice, but i would crop out some or most of the right front wall, and draw the eye toward the corridor. if you reshoot it, get a tad more so you have more cropping options. unless it's not possible. even with my widest lens i sometimes cannot get everything i want, even completely zoomed out and back against the wall. but i would like to see more by the top of the arch. it distracts me some that the arch doesn't have breathing room. i would rather see less of the bottom and floor than miss the arch.

#6 is great. never occurred to me to shoot a corner like that. nice. this is another one i might like to see a few different tripod heights or zooms. i like the missing beams up top but having them cut in half distracts me some. i might enjoy it more if you had gotten lower toward the ground, as low as possible, and just skipped the missing roof area. i guess i see two potential shots here. really like it though.

p.s. yokes! look i am spelling lens correctly now. i'm a big girl.

I love this set, but I've got to agree about 4.. Your work is good, don't ruin it by using terrible post-processing. Just my opinion. Great work! Keep it up.

Because a) the underlying image is uninspired and the pshopping doesn't save it and b) the pshopping technique does not enhance the image at all.

p.s. yokes! look i am spelling lens correctly now. i'm a big girl.

I Find myself wondering what the point is posting a critique is when you make comments like this:

If your truly Interested in what people have to say about your images then you cant sit there and make sarky comments about their opinion. Yokes made some valid comments about the use of shite filters and the fact that you've posted too many photos. If your not interested in what people have to say then why post it on a critiques board?

If you want comments on your work I suggest you start by reducing the number of photos. Post your Favourites not the ones you Hate.

#15 stands out of the bunch in my opinion. I would have cropped it in to ommit the two partial outer most windows, and aligned it very slightly.

Criticism makes you a better photographer... I'm working on what I have been told lately and I think I am getting better from the comments and criticism of veterans of this site. Take their words and use them, not just be all "screw you if you don't like what i take."

Personally, I think this is a good set, except for #4. It's just a bit creepy to me..
