| | | So basically, these are all my favorite photos. Some of them are unrelated to UE, but whatevs. Criticism can help no matter what the subject matter. (This is the portfolio i sent as supplemental material along with my college application.) None of these are retouched or edited, they are all raw photos.

Yeah...I know there are a lot...but it's all of my best photos (in my opinion). Let me know what you think...feel free to tell me if they suck, lol.

| | | You don't have to look at ALL of them because I know there are a shitload. But these were all taken with my Canon Powershot A510. Let me know if you want to know any info on any of these photos, too.

| | | I don't know what the submission guidelines were for the colleges you applied to, but I think it might've been a good idea to scale back on the number of photos. There's just too much repetition. One sunset shot would have sufficed and maybe just a couple exterior shots of the abandoned house. It almost looks like you wanted them to decide which pictures were best for you. Also all the blurry accidental shots like 22, 39, 41 and 56 might look pretty on some level, but I doubt anyone would find them too interesting. It's ok to be creative, but those shots just make it look like you didn't know what you were doing at the time. I like 21 and 22 the most just because they're the simplest and most original ones in the set. The rest look pretty rushed or suffer from the technical limitations of your camera. Also, don't be afraid to edit or do post-processing on your photos. A lot of these could have been improved with a few tweaks here and there. If you're shooting RAW, I'd say it's essential.

| | | A lot of the B&W's need a pure white. Other than that, most of the shots are very strong. Good luck!

There aren't any guidelines for supplemental material, and I only applied to one, early decision. But thank you for your comments, I've never taken any classes or anything, and yes, I have a pretty crappy camera, but I'm planning on getting a new one once I get better at photography. Thanks for your critiques! BT dubs...the reason #56 is blurry is because i had my hand over the lens of my camera in the car and it was warm inside the car and my hands were cold and a little damp, so the lens fogged up...didn't realize it till after the picture was taken and i went home and loaded it onto my comp. That house is a good 2 hours away now, otherwise I would go back and get some better photos.

That's in there because the photography teacher at the college I'm applying to recommended I put in some shots that reflect more about me as a person. That kind of reflects how crazy and goofy I am, and it shows that not all my photography is of nature/buildings, etc. Plus the lighting is good in that shot. And the admissions people will laugh
