I know it's a little dark, when I try to make it lighter, it washes out the windows.

I think if you brighten things up, this will be a really nice photo. If you're using Photoshop, try using curves or the shadow/highlight feature and you should be able to do it without sacrificing the details in the windows. You might also want to crop this one a bit tighter. Maybe take a bit off the sides and the top. A square aspect ratio could work well with this one too.

ive looked into this a little but it seems pretty confusing. not to mention, i dont use layers in photoshop, i only adjust contrast, shadows and highlights. thats only because thats about the extent of my ps knowledge.

I took the liberty of adjusting some levels. I masked out the two windows right of the chair, tweaked levels, and dodged a little around the chair and floor. I could have masked each section of glass individually, but I only did the whole window in one selection for lack of time.

Looks good. I'm gonna try to mess with the levels a bit. When I was fucking with the curve, this turned up on accident.

So I had to save it cause I thought it looked neat. But I'm gonna keep messing with the levels and stuff to get it right.

If this is the case, then you need to change how you're creating the hdr, since this is exactly the sort of problem that hdr is supposed to solve. Luminous Landscape has some decent tutorials, check them out, start from scratch, then repost it.

yep.
