Old Military Base

A recent exploration of an old military base...

1. A chalk board in one of the buildings we went into... we followed this persons lead, and left the date we were there as well. I hope thats not considered 'tagging.'

2. Posters were still up on the walls. The date on the posters was 1974.

3.

4. 8 March 1971....

5. Inside the barracks...

6.

7.

8.

9.

10. The outside of the old military hospital looked like the set of a horror movie. There were old cars with busted out windows, lots of junk and very high weeds.

11.

12.

13.

14.

15.

16.

17. Here is a square toilet, for ya!

18. The operating room...

19. I took this picture, then we heard strange sounds and noises coming from somewhere in the same wing of the hospital as us. It sounded almost like a dog, but could have been a pig I suppose. Either way, it was enough to make us leave before we got to see anything really cool like the basement and patient rooms. Oh well, maybe next time...

Very cool find! Something you locals might want to do is also poke around some of their former helicopter training annexes, scattered around the area.

No - that is not tagging.
Excellent find!
Next time, don't be scared off by a pig. . . . . take a tripod and shoot some interiors.

Pictures 6 and especially 7 put me in mind of Full Metal Jacket.

It was way scarier sounding than a pig. It actually sounded more like someone walking around in house shoes looking for something. I could just imagine coming face to face with some lunatic who still thinks he's a patient in that hospital and trying to kill us. Geez, its not like he would have any problems finding a place to hide our bodies. haha...

Woah, I do have a soft spot for the military installations, and that looks like it's almost perfectly preserved. Almost like it's still stuck in 1975 when the Vietnam War ended.

Wish I could join y'all to visit that place...
