Hyatt Regency, Dallas roof

Was in Dallas this week for a conference and walked over to the Hyatt Regency next to the Reunion Tower to get on the roof for some shots of downtown. Nothing was locked and no one appeared to be watching the cameras, so I'm assuming everyone and their grandma has been to the top of this place. Anyways, here are some of the shots I grabbed:

Thanks! I have a Canon 10-22mm super wide (that I dropped in Alaska, so it squeaks and has a side that's slightly jacked, but it still seems to work OK), and a Canon 28-135mm IS zoom. I didn't have a tripod on this trip, and the roof ledge was no place to try balancing the camera for hands off shooting with the remote, so the night shots are a little on the blurry side, especially around the edges.

Great pix! You are the first I have seen to explore in a shirt and tie. No wonder no one bothered you. Maybe thay should be the UER uniform.

Is that remote worth the $$?
I bought the digital rebel XT and get about a billion emails a day from canon telling em I need more.

Ive been on that roof before. Its pretty sweet. We also went to the restaurant at the top of the globe that has the spinning floor which is pretty cool another time. Thats not really exploration but it was still cool. Your pictures are awesome though. I like the full city shot 2 or 3 down I think it was. Awesome pics

Totally, the shirt and tie makes you seem less suspicious. When I got over to the fairgrounds the next day all the gates were locked since there were like 100 forklifts whipping around moving the midway equipment and taking down the rides. I was just walking by one of the gates on the west side of the grounds and a security guard waved me over and asked if I was there for "the choir meeting". As she said this she was opening the gate to let me in, so I of course said "yes, I'm here for he choir meeting" (whatever that is.) She let me in and gave me directions. I then was able to explore the entire park without anyone giving me a second glance. Even the cops driving around the park didn't care that I was there at midnight. Ties are magic. I found a few holes in the fence around the Cotton Bowl, but decided not to push my luck by running around in there.

//The shirt and tie isn't my normal exploring outfit, but I was at a conference at the convention center all day, and didn't feel like hiking back to my uptown hotel to change.

Yeah, the wireless canon remote for the XT is only like US$18 on amazon, so it's worth it. It's really tiny and so can just live in your camera bag for those times when you need hands off or time delayed shooting.

Wow, awesome pictures! I was trying to keep track of the numbers of the ones I considered my favorites, but there were too many to list. Those shots of downtown should be post cards. I like your fair pictures as well. Sort of a way of saying farewell to the fair until next year.
