I aim to misbehave
| | | | Re: group size <Reply # 20 on 10/30/2006 8:17 PM >
| | | The largest group I've explored with was about 15. Typically, though, it is a group of about 4-6.

| | | Big groups can be a good time. There's 20 in this pic, and I don't think all of us are in it.
I don't typically go out with groups this size, but I'm not afraid to.

| | | 4-5 people is usually my limit. I just don't enjoy groups larger than that.

| | | I prefer one, particularly on road trips. Most people don't like staying up for more than 30 hours at a time to explore.

| | | Probably the biggest group we (me and my friend had been to the place a dozen times or so) took was about 15 including 6 people who'd no experience of UE whatsoever. We broke into 2 teams with myself leading the second with the most inexperienced people. This would allow the more experienced people to sort out any problems like blocked entrances and stuff. I simply took the new guys aside and explained the risks involved - getting caught, glass, thorn bushes, the low wall we'd have to hop and the precarious entrance we'd been using. I also gave them a couple of hand signals to use so they wouldn't start talking. Then we left a 5-10 minute gap between the groups and just stayed calm, took care of each other and so forth. Generally, i think large groups are fine provided you trust them and they trust you and they respect the risks and are made aware of what they're doing.

Just 'cause you're paraniod doesn't mean no one's out to get you.
| | Re: group size <Reply # 27 on 11/1/2006 9:15 PM >
| | | Personally, I think groups of no more than four are ideal, because you can split into pairs and explore slightly different routes, but will also be close by incase anything happens. It means you can move quieter, stealthier, faster, and explore more area than in a group of four, but you still have the eyes and ears. If something does happen to one of the pairs, the other will be aware of it pretty quickly and be able to react, rather than 'waiting for morning' or something. If you have three people, you will have to move slower as you are in a group of three and if you have two people you don't have the backup if you need it, but either of them arn't really a problem unless you're exploring a particularly dangerous or high security area.

| | | Go alone - for a lot of the reasons Blackhawk stated may take one for a total of 2 on tough or hazardous locals. Less chance of being caught and if trouble and evacing less people to account for. Also team is only as strong as weakest link - which is always the one that is caught and the one that tells all and rats out the rest of team.

Uh-huh. Your catching on to what I'm thinking. One person can quickly hide and lay chilly for a day or more if need be. Only takes one Bozo to do something goofy and your just along for the ride...the weakest link theory definitely applies here.
