If you're going underground, better safe than sorry as far as gear goes. Then again, in an active building you might not even want to carry a light, unless it's a keychain type. I always have a small swiss army knife and a mini-light on my keys, and a bandanna (my "first-aid kit) in my back-pocket. Most of the time the only other gear I need is my headlamp (fits in my pocket) and maybe a multitool, since it has an attachment I've used to open locked doors in the past. Oh, and I always have a ball-cap: shields your eyes from falling dust, protects you from breaking the skin when you bump a ceiling, and you can pull the brim low if you're passing a security camera.
