First real Urban Exploration.

Having just pulled up to an abandoned school, another car pulled up. I was afraid it was someone from the town going to yell at me or something. It was actually a woman around 60 from Joliet, IL that had gone to school there. Her husband, daughter, and two grand children were with her. She graduated in the largest class; 30 seniors out of 35. Her dad was the custodian for three years. The school closed when the town went downhill and they couldn't afford to keep it open. A shop was opened across the street to raise money, but it only lasted a year and the school was shortly closed down. She had been there four years earlier and told me that when she was there, there was a couple living upstairs that sold flowers, and that the were renovating the school. The couple was no where to be found and the upstairs seemed completely unsafe. While telling stories, my mother commented that she must have enjoyed school there, she replied “Well, I didn’t get good grades.” Then she said that the school had been ten years of her life. She said that the decay of the building made her feel sick.

Awesome, the first picture is cool. Changing your name is prolly a good idea, if that is your real name. Maybe just use your first name.

Cheers, N.

most people here use a screen name

you'll have to ask a moderator to fix that for you, some are helpful

Oh man, I love these shots. 1 and 3 are my favourites. It's always interesting to realize how big of a role these buildings played in people's lives.

I really like the ultra-contrast and graininess of them... but #3 almost looks like an over-unsharp-mask job. Nice work though! Sounds (and looks) like a very interesting place.

They do look oversharpened quite a bit (or maybe over-hdr'ed?). Checked out your website, and all I can say is holy sh*t, are you seriously only 15? You've got quite an eye for composition already. Everything other than the technical processing of these is really good, all things considered. Oh, and some people use screen names everywhere, some only here but not on their own site, and a couple just use their own names. It's a balance between being traced to trespassing on a site, and taking proper credit for your art, and it's really your call.

yep.

Thanks, yes I really am 15. It's not overly sharpened, you're seeing the grain.
I didn't have my tripod with me so it was a little hard to keep my ISO under 800.

Oh, and I completely forgot, I'm shooting with a Nikon D50.

Wow, that was really fortuitous that you got a history lesson from the horse's mouth when you arrived. The photos are very good in all respects to my eyes.

I'll check out your site next

They arre great! On the first one I've seen two little error. Black aren't equal everywhere and there is a repetitive pattern on the wall:

It's easy to fix, level and the heal tool.

Hope you don't mind about what I did... Otherwise, sorry.

I see what you're talking about on the wall, but I have no idea what you did the the stairs... you must have the brightness way, way up on your monitor.

Well, I only pushed the grey cursor in level and the line are totally cutting so it can't be normal...

Once arranged it should do this, rather than cutting straight

I noticed that when I printed it out. My monitor is dark so I can't see stuff like that until I print it out. Thanks. I don't mind.
