Tunnel under school

OK at my high school, there is this courtyard where a bunch of my friends and I have been playing wallball every day for like the past 3 years. There have been these little grey metal doors that lift up at the bottom of a couple of the walls but they had been locked up until a little while ago when my friend noticed that it was open.

We went in this little place and it just seemed like a small room that was 3 feet tall with a bunch of pipes hanging down from the ceiling and all this weird stuff. Then we realized that what we thought was a wall was an entrance to a pitch black tunnel.

Now we've explored it a couple of times, but it the last two days we've gone farther than we ever had. There are a bunch of lightbulbs that don't work lining the thing, and after taking a turn we found one that was on. The only time we've had to go in this tunnel was between classes when we had 15 minutes so we haven't been able to go as far as we would like.

But today we went really far and found some ladders that lead up out of the tunnel. There was some sort of door at the top of them which would need to be pried open, and it seems like we'd be able to do it. Now the tunnel follows the same path as the halls of the school and we realized that the ladder we found leads into a room that is always locked.

Have you ever done anything like this? What have you found, and do you think I will find anything once I go really deep into it? And have you ever been caught

Go after school when the janitors leave, schools are easy to get into.

Windows, teachers hardly ever bother to lock them.

Put a piece of tape across the latch on a door (one that you can only open from the inside) that way the door wont lock.

Trying to win hearts and minds, but willing to splatter them if neccesary.

Oh yeah I put my own lock on the door right away so no one is gonna lock it up. And the door is actually in a courtyard outside, so we can just drive up and go right in, don't need to go through the school or anything. Eventually we are gonna stay after school one day and explore the whole thing.

I had similar tunnels at my high school. As far as what we found, basically we found that the tunnels had an entrance kind of like what you described, than branched off in two directions. In one direction it led to a small ladder that led to the room with breakers for the school and such, the other led under the main building of my school with most of the classrooms and than just stopped. There were pipes running along the side of the tunnel and where the tunnel stopped the pipes went straight up and through a narrow opening in the ceiling of the tunnel. We found that if we climbed up through the opening there was a narrow space where the pipes went up and into the ceiling of the building. About halfway up there was a metal panel in the wall held in by screws. If you took the screws out you could climb through the space there the metal panel was and into a classroom. Or you could follow the pipes all the way up above the ceiling, take out a ceiling tile and drop into the same classroom that way.

As for nto getting caught, just don't do anything stupid. I'd recommend taking your lock off of there, it's easy enough for somone to cut the lock and if they do notice that it's not their lock they will know somone was in there and make sure it's locked from now on. Make sure that if you explore the tunnels, you leave absolutely no trace of your being there.

the thing is when it's open the door of hangs a little and you can tell that it's open (which is how we found it in the first place) and janitors go out there a lot to like clean up and stuff. if the janitor notices it, they are probably gonna get it locked up. i mean it's been on there since like May of last year and over the summer and nothing's been done.

my high school was to small to have any tunnels but we did have one hell of a boiler room - unfortunately i got caught in it and suspended - i tried to claim the suspension was crap since if i wasn't allowed to be there they shoulda had a sign and the door shouldn't have been left open - but no such luck

Yeah, be really careful, you definitely could get suspended if you got caught in there.

As far as the Columbine thing, did you recently hear about Columbine? It could just be one of those things where you learn a word and than start hearing it everywhere...

I actually did get caught there once, it was just between classes and we had it opened up and were looking in and this administrator came out and was like "what are you guysdoing" and i was just like "just looking at this thing" and he just said like "well why don't you go look at class."

and i've known about columbine for a while but recently read into what exactly happened there but it never really came up before that. that thing with the words does happen though.

I graduated from Littleton High School (four or so miles from Columbine) last year, and my exploratory escapades never got me in too much trouble. However, the Bailey school shooting is pretty fresh, so yeah, you might want to wait a little longer before doing any borderline B&E.

In my experience, many schools are rife with silent alarms too. Anyone know anything about that?
