I've never seen one vented to the outside like that -- the ones I've seen are about that tall but open at the top. Flames occasionally come shooting out the top, great for entertaining the kiddos. The unit pictured makes me wonder if it would work properly if it couldn't get the full unobstructed chimney effect.
