| | | I like these. My only gripe is that they're all tilted slightly (except the first one, which was supposed to be tilted?) and the last two have the tops of the doors cut off. Love the curtains in #2

| | | Hellingly can be quite an awkward on to photograph........ the corridors are quite dark and gloomy but yours have come out quite nicely Like the chair shot in the hall

| | | Hey Mark, I usually find it a bit easier to critique pics from a location I know well, so here goes: 1. I see the idea with the angle an all, but I don't think the pic works. It seems generally blurred or out of focus, the hairdressers chair is cropped on the lower right (intentional?), and the colours are a little muted? Perhaps would benefit from different composition and a single subject/point of focus, i.e. chair in focus and background thrown out? 2. Has one redeeming feature, the fact that the view out the window and the room interior are both reasonably well exposed, I'm presuming a high shutter speed and flash? Other than that though I think the composition is lacking, being too many elements, the shelf on the left, the key storage board far right, the desk, the window view, the curtains, the wall socket. If it were a wider angle shot and all these elements formed part of a bigger picture it could work, but in a closer/tighter shot I think it would help to reduce the elelments in the shot to say three, e.g. the desk, the curtains, the window. 3. Not sure, I'm a sucker for repeating pattern and perspective shots. The slither of window top right keeps drawing my eye, I think an amount of the dead space in the immediate foreground could be lost, also the colours are again a little muted. Having said those things it's by no means a bad picture, just a little uninteresting, to me at least. 4. This is the strongest of the four IMO, nice light, good contrast, nice colours, good exposure, I like it. Only small niggle would be the partial window top right, I'd either get it all in or keep it out of shot, but that's just me and my way of doing things! But this pic to me immediately says 'Hellingly', and that's what it's about, capturing the essence of the place. Cheers, JD

| | | thanks for the comments JD. i see what you mean with the first one, however i'm a bit unsure of how to photograph in this way: 'Perhaps would benefit from different composition and a single subject/point of focus, i.e. chair in focus and background thrown out' seen it done and can look great...
