after a brief online correspondence, i recently had the pleasure of meeting with fellow ue enthusiast justin_case. this was this first time i've collaborated with another explorer from any internet community and was lucky to have kicked off another level of exploration with such a friendly guy. also, i had no worries about meeting any undesirables on the street that night. this guy's a tank!

i took a few pictures upon our joint discovery of 608 fannin, but was not happy with how most shots turned out.. i was too excited at the moment to focus on anything for very long. justin recorded video as i dashed about giddily. we kicked around for a while but were eventually sent back by the sound of approaching footsteps above us. days later i returned and took a few more shots before again being thwarted by the presence of security.

looking back at the ladder: i was so stoked when we found this area that i never once thought twice about splashing down into the ankle high water.. encompassed with active electrical wires.

to the right: looking thru a sliding door to the initial chamber. last i checked, the door is tied shut from the "outside" [the way i found it]. if you go there, please re-tie it as you leave. to the left: WATER TUNNEL OF DEATH.. i'll get back to that.

this is one of the first things one sees when entering the substructure. a foot. WHY? i don't get it.

there are three stairways. one dead-ends into a few rooms of empty shelves. old archives maybe? another stair was boarded over.

up into the rest of the building. this is as far as i've got.

the only records i found on site were some service reports. the most recent dated 1990.

the water tunnel of death:

on my way out the second time, i thought it would be a good idea to wade thru this passage and find another exit. it was in fact a very bad idea. after 5 steps into it my feet were cemented into some silty quicksand shit at the bottom of the water. i've never stepped in quicksand before, but if i ever did, i'd imagine this is what it would feel like. at the time, i found it rather hilarious, so i shot this picture when i realised frantic wiggling wasn't getting me anywhere.
of course i eventually pried my feet out.

there's still more to explore. i'm always up for company. houston was just what i hoped for.

ever had a classic ue moment- simultaneously defining and foolish?

last night, in the absence of detectable security (seemingly denoted by the absence of a certain van in the adjacent lot) i found my way to the rooftop of 608 fannin with ease. 20 odd stories high and with no camera (it was stolen monday) i shook off my anxiety and gloom with a careless jig in celebration- this was the tallest building i had ever scaled. note that no living creature will ever see me dance unless he happens upon me at such a rare moment as last night. and as it would happen, atop the neighboring high-rise across the street, a guard watched silently. God only knows what he must have thought. when i saw him, he turned away and rushed inside a door. i had no intention to find if he ever called police.

I'm just glad you saw him! It's exhilarating when your escape and evade plan falls into place.

Oh, one other thing. You need to take another "possessed evil dude" picture again, from the top of a structure. It's Halloween.
