i like em all alot. try to bump up the color saturation on some of em. for some reason, the barell distortion is pretty obvious. proabably because of all the horizontal and vertical beams. cool stuff.

don't know why but #4 just doesn't do anything for me...maybe because it seems like it's too cluttered, or doesn't focus on anything .... but the rest look great.

They appear rather snapshotesque, though I do like the cropping/editing you did on that very last post. Definitely more appealing.

"snapshotesque" refers to the difference between taking a 'snapshot' and taking a photo... basically a snapshot is like your gut reaction of "hey this looks cool" where you just raise the camera to your eye and take a shot, as opposed to assessing the scene, deciding what your subject is, what the best angle is, and getting a really interesting photo that engages the viewer.

'drawnaway' is dead-on right when she says that your cropping/editing vastly improves #4... although if anything I think you cropped it too tight vertically - leave a bit more space on top to provide more of a border. But it's definitely more interesting to look at than the original. Little changes can make a world of difference.

My advice though: overall they're decent shots, but they need some help. Personally I go through everything in Photoshop after and ask myself what needs to be "fixed"... every now and then you luck out with a cool shot that is almost fine as-is, but in most cases it helps to play with the levels, contrast, saturation, etc... make it more dramatic (but don't go overboard). What you did with shot #1 is a perfect example; the original was interesting, but only in a 'documentary' kind of way that lets you study the scene... your subsequent edit makes the viewer focus on that vat (or whatever it is) and the colour saturation makes it much more pleasing to the eye. I'd go a bit wider though, and get that third vat into the photo.

But hey, just my two cents.

That's for you to decide as the artist. Why should you let someone else make your art?

True, but I also wanted to know how the shots themselves were.

There is a lot going on these photos, with the exception of number 3.
The re post of number 4 is really too busy.
If I were you I would simply go back and try to find specific things to photograph.
For instance; I would go back and try to focus on shooting the large barrels, or something of that nature. Since this place looks fairly wrecked youre not going to pull much out of a wide angled shot because its far too busy. There is too much going on in the photo to make it the subject of one particular thing.
I dont know if you know what I'm saying...
