These shots are a sampling from about five different locations I visited this past Saturday. I put a short writeup of the trip in the "Canada: Ontario" forum (and a few other photos that I didn't include in this post). Here are my favourites... although overall I don't think I got as many decent shots as I did at the Thamesford Mill several weeks ago.

1. I was disappointed to get home and see that the fence was out of focus.

18. Just as I was packing up the car the sun started setting... had to run back and catch this one. I know my shadow's in it, but I couldn't back up any further, and if I crouched then that stupid guard rail would ruin my shot.

I saw the chewing tabacco can that Mutt captured in a previous visit, but the floor was really squishy there so I decided it wasn't worth it.

I know I've posted a few more than I probably should have, but I'm really keen on trying to improve and I think I'll get more useful feedback from a larger set than if I just posted three or four.

As usual, fire away with the criticisms... just please try to provide some guidance as to where I can specifically improve. I'm still pretty new at this. Thanks.

P.S. - whenever I get to be a Full Member I'll add these locations if they're not in the DB already.

I must admit, I cant really critique as such, but I love Number 8, its the strongest of the bunch I reckon...

Great stuff hedd.
For number 2 I'd have desaturated the wheelbarrow slightly more to give it less harsh a look, perhaps ending with it being a faint pastel colouration look to it. But everyone has a different eye.

The sun set shot of the lumber mill can be touched up with PhotoShop. You can highlight your shadow and then bring up the levels of it so your shadow disappears.
Sorry to hear about Foymount being boarded up. I knew the garage with the BMW has been cleaned out and rebuilt, but the boarding of the buildings is news to me.
Number 15, pile of nails is a great composition and angle, but a bit soft.

PM me some time if you are interested in doing some night shooting around the area.

Number 8 is a nice classic shot, I love number 15 though.
Numbers 3,5 and 7 don't have alot going on in them and could be dispensed with. Number 17 is interesting but it just doesn't do it for me, that's my personal opinion. With number 11, you should go down and take more pics of the exterior of the structure. Other than that, well done.

#5. Hands down. Did you use a red filter on that?

Its not the camera that makes the photographer. Its the skill of the photographer behind the camera. You re doing a great job with the camera equipment you have at hand. Its not a crap cam either, it can do the task very well of what you ask it to do.

Thanks Mutt! And ok, so not a "crap camera"... just in the sense that it's only worth a small fraction of the camera I'd like to have. Maybe Santa will be good to me this Christmas or something.
