* Sir - you never did tell us where you found the IL-76/78! Do tell!!

* I am sorry, once again, this has NOTHING to do with UER. My Apologies for a windy response, but I deal in facts for a living and glaring inaccuracy bothers me.

* Iran is playing a game of chicken just as Nazi Germany was playing a game of chicken. I wish I could open your eyes to the great evil that is radical islam. Shall we not take seriously a radical Islamic theocracy that threatens to wipe Israel off the map and bring the west to its knees?

* The US was not supplying Bin Ladin. He was a billionaire, he needed nothing from us – that is a popular myth though! This issue has much more to it than oil. If by capitalism you mean western civilization and western values then you are correct. Madame, WHAT do you propose as an alternative? Sharia?  Our free and open society is what allows you and I to have this wonderful discourse! In Iran there is no free internet and we all would be jailed, tortured (You, as a female, would be brutally raped) for this political rant and for photographing forbidden locations!

* Why do you dislike Israel so? It is obvious that you are grossly misinformed and very confused about middle eastern politics. Rather than ranting back and forth here, I would be more than happy to discuss this via IM.

* You are correct: The US response to Sept 11th has been a series of overlapping half measures. Iraq has become a quagmire and Afghanistan is sliding back into the Taliban. We do look like sissies, I agree. It is a damn shame that we wasted the political capital and international goodwill from 5 years ago on 2 half-baked nation-building exercises.

* Israel's response is not solely because of 3 kidnapped soldiers. You need to look beyond CNN. Israel withdrew from formerly occupied territory in south Lebanon. Post withdraw, Hezbullah - a Syrian/Iranian-backed state-within-a-state has continued to launch 100s of rockets south into Israel. The kidnapping and the firing of longer-range 220mm rockets was an intentional provocation by Hezbollah or "The Party of allah" to bring the situation to a head. What should a state do if missiles rain down upon it by the 100s? In the Arab world it is much better to be feared than respected. Must Israel endure constant attack?

*The IAF presently consists of 59,000 personnel, most of which are reservists. Today they comprise about 90 F-15s of all makes, 250 F-16s of all makes, 65 F4s and 100 or so A4s which are both being replaced by 100 or so F-16Is. Of all other categories of airframe (scout, recce, transport, refueling, awacs) the IAF has 400 or so planes.
* I could lay out the air order of battle for the world, but just as one illustration of your mistaken numbers- the Chinese PLAAF boasts 250,000 personnel who operate over 3,000 registered combat and support aircraft and more then 400 helicopters nested in PLA aviation units.

* Maze means well and is very passionate - I admire that. Sadly she is grossly misinformed. If you get all of your news from the left OR right, you are bound to come up short on facts.
* Two completely separate rebellions against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan were going on in the 80s. They were united ONLY by the common enemy, the USSR
* Bin Ladin's insurgency was financed primarily by Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states and was composed of Islamic extremists who migrated to Afghanistan from all over the Muslim world. They called themselves “Arab Afghans” and were tenuously welcome in the country and only because they were fighting the Reds.
* U.S. funds went exclusively to the Afghan's home-grown insurgency - that is to say to the NATIVE AFGHANS who were fighting to expel the Soviets from their own land. We tested various weapons systems (advanced SAMs) and were allowed to collect technical intelligence from Soviet weapon systems.
* Bin Ladin himself had this to say to Robert Fisk “Personally neither I nor my brothers saw any evidence of American help,” And “We were never, at any time, friends of the Americans. We knew that the Americans supported the Jews in Palestine and that they are our enemies.”

DevilC,

I'm not gonna answer this cause it's way off topic. But I don't listen to CNN, I don't listen to any US-bush-condi BS and I know my political facts pretty well, better than you'd ever imagine in your dreams.

"She's sadly grossly misinformed" makes me LMAO.

Oh well.

* Where do you get your news?
* You cannot reply in argument to what I have stated unless you desire to be factually incorrect. I am glad you can laugh at your lack of understanding.
* I do not dream about you and your political knowledge or lack therof.
* Now back to Russian airplanes!

New to the forum. It's killing me that I recognize the background of where the pic was taken and I can't for the life of me place where in my travels it's from. Although I'm fairly sure it looks familiar enough that I have likely been by it numerous times. I don't 'spose it's anywhere in the south part of Dallas like between Seagoville and Kaufman or such by chance?
