| | | Abandoned TI building < on 7/22/2006 6:09 AM >
| | | Anyone ever make it inside the old TI plant on the north side of Denton,TX? From what I remember, computer chips and warheads for guided missles were made there. That building has been abandoned for almost ten years.

| | | It was only open for a couple of years, and was part of the Defense Systems & Electronics Group (DSEG), that was sold to Raytheon in 1997. The plant closed in 1990 (IIRC), after the Berlin Wall came down, and DoD spending scaled back. I believe it was built for the Javelin program (a then-new manportable anti-tank weapons system). TI built the launcher for Javelin, and the guidance system for missiles (I think). TI mothballed the plant and didn't sell it to Raytheon. It was sold a year or two ago to the University of North Texas. It's located on Loop 288, not too far from I-35. and US Hwy 77. Supposed a trolley car destined for the McKinney Ave. Transit Authority was stored there in the warehouse for a couple of years, before it was restored and put into service. You talking about the one out by Cy-Fair? I wasn't aware TI used to own that. It is a very cool building...

You don't want to touch it. It is still extremely active. But, unless I am mistaken, I believe parts of it are/were abandoned. However, you are on your own on that one.
