A few of mine from a military hospital near me.

1. Looking up

2. Maternity Ward

3. Bleeding Walls

4. A Ward

5. Looking out

6. Inside The Clock

*Sorry about the size difference in the first and the last the combination of my 350D and photobucket seems to clash sometimes even when under their size guidelines*

there is.......... but I ruined it a little by not bouncing my flash

In my defence I was a little rattled at the time, we thought we had been well and truly busted............. but it turned out to be a couple of male pigeons wrestling for a mate!!! :o So we snapped a few shots and hastily moved on!

perhaps you could burn that spot in?

DANG i love them all very much. i dont think i've seen your work before. but i think #2 is one of my favorite BWs ever.
3 and 5 are my other favorites. although 1 and 4 are very pleasant as well. (its nice that you actually followed the rules of the forum and didn't post like 20, but with pictures like these i dont think anyone would complain)

i dont really have much else to say. i cant think of any ways to improve them really. i just like the way you've framed these. they're all strong compositionally and they are all filled with interesting elements.

WOW thank you!

I dont tend to post alot pics as I am one hell of a self critic and dismiss about 95% of them normally and the other 5% are usually docu type shots for my site.

But been playing about with B&W recently and quite liked em and was wondering what others would think........ and curiosity got the better of me so I posted em up

Quite glad I did have had a cheshire cat grin today from your comments

The B&W's could definitely use some contrast, absolute blacks will really make these pop.

Bleeding door/walls is cool as hell. I could shoot an entire roll on those.

#1 is just fantastic. I absolutely love the use of vertical line. The shot is just so effective at conveying that feeling of height. I love how it kind of closes off at the top too. The sliver of window peeking out in the center is distracting, but it doesn't ruin the shot at all. Fantastic shot.

#2 is well done but a little boring.

#3 is awesome and I didn't even notice that it was a flash shot. This particular exposure is better as B&W though this would be an awesome subject in color. A little processing could probably improve this one too.

#4 is stunning. The crisp angles and light give it a feeling of cleanliness which stands out, especially in a set of shots from an abandonment. This shot has great elements on it's own, but in context of the rest of the set it REALLY pops. I wonder if you shot it when the highlights were a little longer if it would be even more insane or just suck? Either way this is a great shot.

#5 is a bit boring. I like the windows and I like the lights and the arm coming down. You might be able to do something with that. But, this particular shot doesn't say much.

#6 is pretty cool. Would like to see it bigger and it may need some post.

I don't agree that these need more contrast except #2 which definitely does need more contrast. A lot of people here don't care about shadow detail which I think is bad technique most times. That might be a result of the fact that my photo teacher in HS was obsessed with shadow detail, but in my old age I have to say I agree with him. Your shots have mood without losing detail and interest. Very nice!

The newer ward shot I see what you mean..... I am half tempted to go back again at a different time of day just to see if I can get the shadows longer now

and grassy cheers too......... I am having a lot more fun with m 350D now

most of 'em look rather snapshotty

BUT... #3 has promise

it looks like you used a flash here... don't. or if you must, leave it open on a bulb exposure, and do several bounces from one general area to even the light... dial your flash down three stops, and do 8 flashes from one area far removed from your camera. that sort of thing

either way, tho, the composition on #3 is pretty damn good, and flash or no, it's a compelling image

1. I like the angle, and the architecture of the place is interesting:
simultaneously elegant and practical.

2. This is very well composed. I like this shot because not only is your subject
very interesting, but the picture makes you think about the room's use in the
past.

3. I honestly have to say that this is one of the 3 creepiest pictures I've ever
seen on UER. Wow, I'm impressed. The color version is very good as well; I
can't decide which I like more. This is composed very well, even though the
angle itself is somewhat plain. I'd like to see a shot from the side of one of
the doors, looking down the wall. That might be interesting.

4. This is a nice contrast from 2 and 3, the room seems to be in great condition
compared to the two before. I like the angle you chose; it shows the symmetry
of the room in a very subtle way.

5. I'm not as sure about this one as the 3 before. It's a good shot, the angle is
just kind of plain, although I don't see a better angle in the room. This does
display an interesting subject in a well-composed way, though.

6. Very nice. I like the choice you made to include two clocks instead of one;
It made the picture a lot more symmetrical and interesting.

Thanks for going by the rules for posting. I know a lot of us don't and it's cool to see someone who follows them perfectly. These are great photos, It'd be great to see more.

Maybe this is a stupid question, okay it probably is. But does anyone have any idea what might cause the walls to look like that? It doesn't seem to be coming from water.

He is watching.
