I see a lot of blown highlights...... How do you shoot with the rebel? What setting are you on and do you use the info feedback to look at your histogram? #4 is pretty nice and very spooky.

I usually shoot on manual, tweaking the ISO as needed. The blown highlights might be the result of messing around in photoshop. Can you please say more about the info feedback/histogram? I know what it is, but I haven't been taking advantage of it, and I'd like to learn.

Histograms are your friend, I shoot with a canon D60, and there is a setting buried in the menu to make the preview show the histogram right after you take the picture. The D60 is one of canon’s early DSLR’s so the rebels I assume have this feature, it’s worth using.

The really short advice is when you look at histogram you want the graph to come close but not completely touch the sides. The slightly longer version is you do not want the graph pressed against the right side; all the way to the right is pure white. Pure white means blown highlights (the canons also make blown highlights blink in histogram preview). If you blow highlights in-camera you can’t get any data out of it in Photoshop. Fully saturated photocells on the sensor also tend to “spill over” to there neighbor making the blowout even more annoying. You can however press data to the left of histogram (pure black / no data). You can pull data out of shadows much easer then you would think.

I would also shoot in raw, there more data and it makes correcting exposure really easy, especially if you have a copy of Photoshop CS.

For a much better tutorial on histograms see: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/yrgb.htm
It’s Nikon centric but still really good info.

Yeah sure. Click your > play button to review a photo and then hit the info button on the left side a couple times till you see a small image preview on the left and your histogram on the right.

Awesome resource to show you what it's all about http://www.dprevie...rn/?/key=histogram

Cheers !

Im new to the hobby myself but i really like number 2. I like the trees growing into the bus's windows. Great Job. For some reason they seem a little crooked to me too.

#3 is great. All of these show a great eye... do you use a tripod?

Leave only footprints, take only pictures... unless its like really cool.

I would call four the best. It evokes another galaxy, and has interesting colors. Awesome.

Thanks! I do use a tripod, although not always...more in low-light situations. Out of these, I used a tripod to shoot 2 and 4.
