To be honest, I'm not really a huge fan of the massive amount of processing. Originals would probably be much better.

These are way to overdone. I agree i would like to see any one of the single exposures. I think they would hold much more meaning if they looked something like reality.

i think the photos should have benefit from a mosaic filter and maybe applying a "difference clouds" in some of the windows.

My girlfriend was in Katrina, and she says it was gruesome. It took everything from her: nice house, car, almost her daughter, damn she lost all her material stuff down there. Of course, it's painful for her, so I don't ask TOO much about it, but it's always good to talk about stuff, slowly until she is comfortable. I've been in several storms out at sea even, I did like the link, though. Good eye opener.

Technique? Sure, I think the images may have originally been very well shot. On our end, we'll never know. I like the composition of many of these.

However, I agree with everyone else here. There's just too much post-processing. What are they planning on doing with these images? Publishing them?

I think the "technique" is far to over done for such an already dramatic subject matter. I feel like these pictures are more documentary and the effect over powers that...

This isn't boot camp and you are not a ninja. But you sure look like an idiot in that outfit.

the only amazing thing about these photos is the amount of PhotoSlop that went on

any photographer worth his salt should be able to pull some powerful images out of the Katrina wreckage with his camera alone... I don't think these images decry a talented photographer at all.

to be honest, I had already looked at his work before you suggested looking at the rest. I found them either to be under or over done. And just boring the begin with. I did like his personal section. But the rest just isn't the style of photography I dig.

I'm sorry it sounds like we're all ragging on your friend here.

I know tons of middle-aged pro photographers that got too sucked into digital technology and just don't know how to be subtle of innovative with it.

wow - a lot of his B&W stuff is amazing.

why he chose to ruin his Katrina images with that much PhotoSlop is beyond me, since he's clearly a very talented photographer... I mean, I don't find those painty-looking things compelling, or emotionally affective, at all... and in the context of Katrina, that's poor.

but like lev said, the rest of his work is pretty nice, this katrina stuff is the photo equivalent of a luther burger.
