I just moved here, and theres an abandoned place less than 5 minutes away.

Anybody know what this place could have been and what happened to it?

Looks to me like a commercial building from the early to mid 20 century that was not taken care of. The roof collapsed and has been clean out leaving the brick shell of the building. I don't see anything that looks like fire damage in your pictures, so I assume the buildiing was just neglected for a long period of time. It is pretty common

The sign on the front is pretty neat also !

The Texan. There are a few decent places in Athens to explore, and one real nice place. Plenty of stuff in Tyler about 40min to your east.
