I apologize but it is for my own good. It was the usual stifling hot day, around 100 in the shade. My partners in crime and I were laying on bunks trying to decide when to venture up to the old bus we had spotted on the flight in weeks earlier. Our shift began around 2000 and it would be dark a couple hours after that. We began work and around 0200 the crew gathered in the most distant hangar. We decided that the place was quiet and it was now or never. We moved to the top of the berm and scanned the area for security with night vision goggles. The only people we saw were others working nearby and the occasional vehicle passing miles away. One by one we crossed the runway and then regrouped at the first rally point. Without a word we moved up the hill where the bus was resting. We were in the prone position making sure we had not been spotted on the way over. I scanned the area with the night vision goggles when I spotted vehicles approaching at a high rate of speed. After I passed that tid bit along to the others we decided to egress the area immediately. At the previously mentioned rally point we gathered and again one by one crossed the runway. As I took off and dove over the berm I came to the sudden realization that we were busted. We were lined up and knelt at gunpoint until we were rescued. We did find out what the bus was and did get in a little trouble for going up there. I suppose it was worth it but in hindsight it was a pretty dumb thing to do considering the situation. Yes all of this happened, yes I have a few pictures. Call BS if you like, but what I wanted to hear is everyone else's stories of the dumbest UE you found yourself involved in. BTW....I will post two pics in the Photography section if interested. In case you did not realise it, all sorts of military organisations including homeland security monitor this web site (as publicly posted in previous posts by AV) and they have the ability to track your IP, find out from your service provider who was using that IP at the time and track you down. If you are a civillian bulshitting well you're in luck, they'll probably just ignore you. If you really are military then well you have some explaining to do and probably a demotion on your way. It was my first drain in like 10 years and the first couple of hundred feet is 1600 (I think) which means lots of crouching. You get to the skybox and it's great and then you can go to the outfall. Of course this was shortly after the flooding-the whole drain was dry but the river was still high and with the grade of the drain it quickly got crotch deep on the way out. We were going to swim but my pals chickened out. Not wanting to crouch the whole way back we decided to pop a manhole. We tried to landmark and listen for cars and thought we were pretty safe. I climbed the ladder and heaved on the cover but it barely budged. I tried again and got it pretty high but not high enough. I was just about to give it another shove when *clunk clunk* goes the car over said manhole cover. Anyways, with a face full of dirt and a pounding heart I climbed down and we went a little further. We were able to find one that was in traffic circle where I wouldn't get my head bashed in, and now I leave it to the pros. We ended up talking our way out of any trouble, but my poor mother thought I was dead and was crying hysterically when I called her. I felt terrible. In 4 hours we explored over 40 locations between us. We all hated every minute of it. It was the worst idea i ever came up with. but it will live in infamy.
