Very nice use of perspective in #2.

Did you shoot other angles of #5? I think there is a nice photo in there if you shot from the right side with a telephoto filling the frame with those vibrant colors and patterns. Does that make any sense? But I also like the scene you have presented here.

#6 has great use of light and reflections. But the slight tilt to the frame bothers be a little. And I might even lighten the frame just a bit.

Beautiful light in #9.

The others are well executed, although the subjects and compositions aren't quite as interesting as those I mentioned above.

Thanks for the comments/criticism! I did shoot a few different angles of the iron lungs.. although I wasn't too excited about the lighting, here is a different view:

Good stuff man...

1 - I would crop this tighter, get rid of the distracting left side, but love the shadows on the right side. The diags on the shadows give it a sense of movement which contrasts with the permanence of the verticals...suggests the movement of the day in contrast to the permanence of the radiator. I might even darken up the shadows to make them even more graphic, but definitely needs a crop.

2 - It's so easy to shoot the angle in this place, that I kind of like the straight on shot...I didn't even take it myself when I was there.

3 - A bit dark but the colors, textures, and lighting are on point.

4 - I like this. I feel like I want it levelled, but maybe I don't because I like it how it is. Texture is awesome.

5 - Good, but I've seen too many of this room. Needs a new twist.

6 - I like this but it's a bit dark and does need to be levelled.

7 - Again I would crop this tighter. The stuff around the box is more of a distraction. Maybe leave some of it, but I want to focus on the box.

8 - The interesting part of this is the lines, so once again I would crop it tighter.

9 - I love the lighting and colors, but I wish the right side were lighter. If you shot this in RAW I bet you could process another version for some more shadow detail and then mask it in. Nice shot though.

10 - More brightness and contrast on the building, maybe some selective color as well. I LOVE how the clouds are coming over the building though.

Overall these are very good. The overall look of the pictures is great and you have a really good handle on a lot of elements like color and texture and getting interesting lighting. What I would do if I were you is work on really concentrating on what is interesting about what you're shooting and try to focus in on that more. 1 is probably the best example...there's awesome stuff going on here and you noticed it, you just put in a bunch of stuff that distracts from the subject more than it adds to it. I feel like you would be really good at shooting more abstract patterns and stuff out of context if you tried it. You catch a lot of good contrasting lines, you just need to center the viewer's interest on them.

i'm loving the iron lungs. i've never actually seen one in person. i love the first shot of them you posted, the colors really look great and you did an awesome job with the 20D too. that L lense is one of the better short lenses and works rather well on the 20D. check out ebay for an adapter for your 20D so you can get old leica lenses and old nikkor lenses to fit the 20D. you basically use the camera in full manual mode and lose the autofocus, but wait til you see how much warmer some of your shots become.

excellent work, and love the iron lungs !

thanx 4 sharing

cheers !

Wow, great stuff!

Anymore info on shot number 2? I'm not familiar with the place. Looks like an old railway maintenance shop. I like how the green vegetation has grown along the railway tracks in the center of the shot. Nice work.

I like number 2. Maybe hitting the green with some more saturation would help to make it pop even more. Cheers.

4 6 & 9 are killer. The light and subject matter elevate them above the others.

You can improve your body of work by showing less of the stuff that you know isn't premium. In this case, you had a couple of shots that the light just wasn't there (#1 for example). It isn't your fault. Don't try to make something out of nothing. If the pic doesn't have it, it doesn't have it.

I really like 2, 4, and 6. They all have great moody lighting and colors.

I like 2 because the shot allows you to get a really good feel for how big the place is. 4 is just cool, the floor looks wicked. 6 has a great reflection effect. Thanks for sharing these.
