| | Prince Sultan Air Base < on 5/29/2006 7:50 PM >
| | | I spent four months at this air force base in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert. It was simply huge. Although we stayed in tents within a protected perimeter inside the base, the Saudis constructed many facilities such as mosques, hangers, and barracks that were all unused from what I could tell. After the war in Iraq began in 2003 I believe we no longer had any use for the Saudi air base and the U.S. and Britain no longer have a presence there. Does anyone know what the Saudis did with this base? Do they use it or does it just sit there as a bunch of empty buildings? I mean, they probably land a few planes on the massive runway, but I doubt they use any of the buildings so they probably just sit unused. Any UE folks in Saudi who know about this?
