| | | #1 looks underexposed, while 2 and 4 are a little overexposed. Number three is a little soft, but nice use of lighting. If you're looking a high quality film, I'd recommend FujiFilm Superia 200ISO or FujiFilm Professional Press 400ISO. Both really nice films. Nope, Number 1 is a smidge under-exposed, there's not enough detail in the highlights. While 2 and 4 are the same picture and both are over-exposed, not enough detail in the shadows. I'm talking about the print quality. Number 1 would have an over-exposed negative and thus an under-exposed print. Either that or the exposure time on the print wasn't long enough. Either way, I'd burn that whole left side of the print on number 1.

No number 1 is way over exposed. If it was a stop or two under you could pull out those details in the highlights. This you can't save the highlights at all

I'm not starting a flame war, they're stupid. I'd agree that the negative could be overexposed, meaning it's too thick in the highlight areas (it received too much light during the initial exposure of the film) so you're losing detail in the highlights. But as far as the print is concerned (allowing that we had a perfect negative), this final print is underexposed (meaning there's not enough detail in the highlights). You had me doubting myself, but I checked with several photographer friends and we were all in agreement that it's under, not over.

Um, I don't know. That's not what I was taught during my bachelors degree in photography. But I could be wrong. The scan may just be bad any way.

| | | Hahahaha oh I get it! You thought he was printing his own photos. In that case, you're both right, the both of you who were wrong. But you're both wrong, because these photos were all printed by an invariable exposure time at a local drug store. But I guess y'all didn't know that. I didn't mean to start a flamewar by pointing this out, but then it came to name calling and that's just wrong. Just plain wrong. If we're talking photographic technique, not printing technique, yah. Lexiphoto is right. But, on a CONSTRUCTIVE note! I thought about photo number one? And When I thought about it, I thought about how neet this picture is, only because of how dark it was in that room when he took the photo. This picture made me completely forget about what the weather conditions were like that day (despite the puddles on the floor). Sometimes it's fun to do that with wicked long exposures. It was cloudy and drizzly and GROSS and dismal in that room. I want there to be a dude wearing really dark clothes standing against the wicked bright wall.
