Forum issues, complaints, etc.

Please direct all forum issues, complaints, suggestions, and the like to a moderator via PM. In the near future we will have a form set up which will post your question, concern, etc. for all mods to view and handle.

Need help? Please use the Contact a Mod forum — I'm slow to see PMs.

So where exactly do we discuss, collectively, issues related to this forum?

And can someone please take my LDB improvement thread from the old Forum Issues and put it wherever it can go?

So far, the 'new' system has already shown that the new mods are full of themselves and that they should not have any power whatsoever. I can clearly see that if you do not agree with them, it is off to auto-ban land.

Av, you really screwed the pooch this time. Please restore the former system. I miss it already and you too!

Possibly the prior post was an automatically generated "Form" message,
sent when anything at all happens? I hope the sender will bear with the rest of us
if we have more important things to do, like exploring, or thanking the unseen
workers who keep this place running.

I think alot of us have been so busy looking for a solution that we've lost site of the problem. And the problem is... we don't have a problem! Aside from the spat of infighting that went on a few weeks ago, everyone has pretty moved back to a tone of civility with each other, even when disagreeing on once contentious issues like the LDB. The sky didn't fall and it won't fall.

Seriously, alot of us need to just relax and place some confidence in the way things are done, and just enjoy this free resource for what it is. The reality is that no single solution was going to please everyone. And the way we are here, no single solution was even going to please the majority. Everyone wants things MY WAY. The poll was probably the best way Av could cut thru the editorializing and bickering and put his finger on the pulse of this community in a non-subjective manner. The userbase spoke and chose the current form of admnistration.

So here's my suggestion; why don't we all just put this behind us, tone it down, cut the "Holy War" political shit and stick to sharing thoughts, input, photos, locations, etc. on UE. I think the least we can do for each other is to give this current system a chance to prove itself. The coming months will tell. But if we condemn it to fail and continue to bicker, nothing will work.

Yes, and this is why I'd like my LDB improvement thread put back somewhere where it's viewable and people can comment on it. It could even be pinned, if the moderators felt like it.

Well I believe once this suggestion form is in place, we'll have a structured means to submit ideas like that to the mods. It wouldn't surprise me if, given time, we'll see a poll with those LDB improvement ideas put to a site wide vote. But just discussing it ad-infinitum in a thread will just be like running in circles.

We can keep it civil and still make positive suggestions. The fact that Forum Issues is gone was brought up earlier, and is apparently being worked on. I think the consensus was to archive or read-only most of the previous content (including the embarrassing stuff), and have a suggestion or customer service type form to bring up problems.

I'm kind of interested in seeing if/how this works as well, but everyone needs a couple days to settle down and work things out.

Kowalski snuck one in while I was typing We definitely need a public-comment area for certain suggestions and discussions.

Yes, but I don't want people to be able to forget about it. And I may be in the minority on this one, but I don't think the moderators are so smart and visionary that we should only be petitioning them for change. If we want a democratic voice we need to take it, we cannot be satisfied with simply submitting suggestions to them. They are not going to be philosopher-kings on these forums, and even if they were we'd be fools to settle for that.

We have the right to discussion, and it's our responsibility to take it or let a less palatable precedent be set.

The nice thing about the forum issues board was the ability to see other people opinions, and the ability to improve on or to suggest alternatives to things.

The moderators can't, won't, and shouldn't be expected to think of everything. There is lots of intelligent users on this board, not only mods.

'fraid not. The mods are now to be considered UER deities. They will think of everything.

It should be noted that removing Forum Issues was Av's last move before officially stepping down as administrator. If you guys want to hate someone as a result, please don't put it on the mods, who really had nothing to do with it.

We are still working things out and how this sort of thing is going to work around here. Avatar-X wanted to remove Forum Issues and we're now working out how user suggestions, comments, complaints, etc. are going to work. It hasn't even been a week and you guys are already jumping down our throats.

But according to what has been said in the UER Elections board, anyone who has any grief or disagreement with the policies or with any moderators, will be warned and then banned.

It was a subtle hint, the banning part would be the issue here.
