Pretty nice job. I like the first one, but having the car lights going through the intersection would be awesome. Seems like you got it down pretty good from what I see. Just look more for the composition of your shots, angles are good on night shots especially with moving cars, and if you're doing self portraits try out the remote that you get with the digital rebel, or have someone press the button for you. You can't make some amazing self portraits using these cameras.

Light painting and low ISO are key I think.

Just a question, but what's the blue light-streak on the left?

...or even 50 if you can find it! I like to shoot at 100 with the Ap no wider than F/8, sometimes as closed as F/11.

Experiment... it took me more than four months to get used to things... but the upswing is it sharpens your mental light meter very well.

i made the right choice about going digital cause click click click you can just shoot away i think its better for a novice to have a digital slr then film because it gives them a chance to experiment like you said i fully agree

thanks for the help

ya but i like fully manual Film cameras (anything w/o a program button) for beginners... because it makes you take pictures RIGHT!... and still now I love film because it stll makes me think "Take this picture right because its costing you 100 bux" but i do agree Digital is good for experimentation..... i learned most of my shit by fucking up many rolls of film but now im a much better photographer (mechanically speaking)

I love night photography, but I've never tried it myself. So I just took this picture out of my bedroom window like 4 hours ago.

I thought the sky looked purdy.

Probably a Pentax K1000 or a Spotmatic.... how does the lens mount? Brackets or Screwmount

if it screws its a spotmatic....

Good Camera to use ..... i have one myself... and i use it alot even though i have 2 Early 90's Minolta Bodies

For sharp night images you want to close up the aperture quite a bit. The smaller opening will make for longer exposure times, but as most lenses have aberrations on the glass, the smaller the section of the lens you use, the less they will interfere with the image.
I have found over the years that for long exposures with TLR and SLR cameras the mirror slapping can induce a bit of camera shake. To avoid this I just hold my hand in front of the les as I hit the button and the mirror slaps its little heart out. Once its settled, like half a second I take my hand away. Same thing for closing the shutter at the end of your exposure, hand in front of lens, jiggle the camera about when you are hitting the button, and it doesnt show.

That is a first class bit of "critique", I bet it really helped the guys confidence, and helped him fix what may have been wrong with his picture.

Good work Glass!
