Visit to New Hampshire

So, NoHo was a bust due to the airtight security in place, but FZRaven suggested some places along the border in New Hampshire since he was with me and the other people from NEUEU that I go with.

So, with my Kodak EasyShare camera and a day to kill, here a few photos for y'all to rip apart. Tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly, cuz while i'd like a camera upgrade, until then, i'm stuck with what i've got and might as well figure out how to work with it than hate it.

Also, I have no clue how to do that snazzy little gallery thing because for the life of me, the codes I get, but I have not a damn clue how to use them (it got pretty messy) so just click on the links to get the photos. They're pretty big, so I don't wanna kill anyone's browser by just tossing them directly in the post.

7-12 all have some great elements
love the glowing door in seven
that would have been an amazing shot to have zoomed in on that

I find your exposures are off
, your whites are a bit blown out and yet somehow your darks manage to be a little too dark too....did you up the contrast in a post-expo program???
try taking your pics at a different time of day too...the light seemed extreme and the shadows distracting...disfuse light as on slightly cloudy day would make a better pic
try making your compositions simpler :focusing on one or a few things and see how that changes your photos....maybe it won't work for your style...maybe it will

there's some great stuff there....keep it coming

It's a good start, but you need to get closer to your subjects--especially the lower ones.

I did not deal with touching them, actually. The reason they are very off (and I knew this when I took them) was the direct sunlight factor really playing hell with things. Those are really the honest to god contrasts for the day, and there was very little escaping them.

Which usually isn't a problem in this part of the country this time of year, but lately it's been clear blue sky and not a cloud. Go fig. I'd have preffered to have waited until later in the day or for a cloudy day, but we'd been up all night travelling and such (me being the driver for the trip) so by early afternoon, we were pretty whipped. What was there, was there. It won't be my only visit, seeing as my camera also kept crapping out on me cuz it ate the batteries. I've definitely got to get back there fairly soon for sure, as redevelopment of the downtown area (and a lot of these places) is starting to pop and crackle here and there.

Which has always been a problem with this camera :-/ It's the kind your mom would use to take pictures of your brother's 12th birthday party, really.

Gnawing on your leg,

Ow, ow, ow...
