Do we have a gear thread yet to post ideas and websites. I am always looking for lightweight clothing gore tex and other goodies but nothing in the regular loud colors associated with such gear. My rec is www.rangermade.us

Hmmm....

Really good gear is only as far away as your local sporting goods store. It doesn't have to come from online. Of course, I live in a town so small that there are no specialized shops, and WalMart is my only sporting goods source, so I shop online alot.

While we're talking gear, you need to consider a good pair of shoes. I have big feet, so I cannot shop in-store for shoes. Quality hiking shoes are invaluable for pretty much any UE we do, and waterproof is so much the better.

Google is definately your friend. Anything you find at one website, chances are you can find the same thing at another site selling for maybe afew bucks cheaper. I don't really need alot of gear with me. Just a sling pack filled with essentials, maybe acouple bottles of water and a good flashlight.

I used indoor sports shoes last time. They sucked; Imma go with normal running shoes next time.

Indoor sports shoes can be ok depending on what you're doing.... I roofed a building last weekend and they (adidas indoor soccer shoes) worked perfectly. However I prefer steel-toe boots in an abandoned factory, where the ground isn't smooth (anymore) nor is softly stepping an issue (It's hard to roll your steps in stiff boots).
Someday Ima buy tabi's. Someday. And there is another thread on this, less on stores though. http://www.uer.ca/...id=1&threadid=3343

Edit: Steeltowed. Bah.

Not a thread specifically for websites, that I've seen, but there are about 50 gear threads in Tutorials section kind of scattered about...

Sporting good stores, building stores, electronics stores and hardware stores yield many good gear additions for my gear addiction.

Your best options are probably surplus stores, especially army surplus. You'll get quality equipment at surprisingly low prices. Internet's great for shopping around to get ideas, but for the price concious, you might want to look local / obscure first.

Tools:
Casio EX-S500 (digital), Mini Extendable Tripod, LED Microlight, MP3 Player, CRKT K.I.S.S.
