Lemme know what you think of this one, technically and composition wise.
I wasn't that happy with any of the shots I got the night I took this one but last night it caught my eye. I think I like it more each time I look at it.

Anyways, tear me a new one, help me out! lol

Thanks

Is the building falling backwards, or is it just me?
The more I look at my work the more I dislike it, usually.

The overexposed sky on the right of the photo is kind of harsh -- but other than the reasons listed, I approve.

Interesting shot. There's something I really like about the colours and the dramatic effect they create.

Composition wise, I suppose it's ok, but to be honest, I find it slightly boring and typical. Most people take straight on, perfectly centered shots of buildings, and after a while they start to look the same. Some suggestions I have for next time would be to either move in closer and take details on the building or try a new perspective like going right up against the building and taking a photo up to emphasise the hight of it. Another thing you could do to this image that I think would help would be to enhance the contrast in Photoshop (or whatever editing programme you use) - I think that this could give it an extra boost.

I'm sorry if my critique might sound a little harsh; I hope that it will help you in the future. You should also realise that this is just my personal opinion and that others might think differently.

It's all good!

I do use photoshop. It's sometime a little hard to guage contrast when there will be so many different monitors(crt's and lcd's) used to view the same picture.

Thanks for the critique. (need a thumb-up smiley)

You know, I live literally right around the corner from the place, and I still haven't gotten ANY pictures of this place. I think this is a really nice shot. I agree it is a little over exposed on the right hand side. This is a really beautiful building and you did a good job of capturing it.

Looks a tiny...incy bit tilted upwards to the right. Make sure the tripod is good and level!

I like this though. try to take a long exposure at night, it could look so awesome!

I think its a good pic, but i think if you had to take a direct head on shot of that building, it would have looked cooler at night. But i'm going to agree that the straight on shot isn't the greatest idea. Can't say im not guilty of that lol. Its still cool, i like the overexposed sky. Try walking around the building and picking up small features.

its a matter of personal taste. but i think that the straight on approach doesn't work here is because the shot is SO symmetrical. and the symmetry line really is dead center. and thats generally displeasing in photography.

i would like to see more contrast on the actual building. everything is kind of flat. but i understand, its hard to get rich values at night.

my favorite part is the gradient in the sky.

You can't fix boring, you take a better photo.
If you asked me how to take a better photo,
I'd say, "Take a photo of something that's interesting."

I've seen buildings like that before.

Im sure if he got close up to the building and took a picture looking up standing right next to the building, it would look better.
