  • Wish they had titles (or at least numbers)...
  • Wish they had more of a range in tone...
  • Wish you told us camera/film info...
  • Wish you spent some more time on focal points...
  • I think they are not very interesting except for the second to the last.

I liked a few of these, but for the most part, they seemed kinda lacking. I thought the second-last one was pretty cool, and number 3 was kinda artsy and nice-looking.

I was just about to say the same. Keep shooting. Good pics alltogether.

I like the subject matter in the second one but there's just something ... I dunno I don't like the way it's presented. sorry it's not more constructive criticism. I like it but I don't. it's like it's ALMOST there.

The 2nd last one is neat though. Keep it up!

Using your second post #'s as reference (since you changed the order) -

1. If you're going to do this kind of shot, you need to get the lines 110% absolutely perfect. Get rid of the barrel distortion, get a whole lot more contrast in there (at least enough to separate the baseboard from the floor) and clone or crop out the black spots on the wall on the left, they completely blow the effect you're going for. Also would have been nice to get an exposure or two for the window, and blend/adjustment layer/hdr so it's not so blown out. The idea's there, though, it's a very 4x5 way of seeing.

2. Crop the black on the left to be the same width as the door section on the right, get rid of that barrel distortion, and we have a winner. Nice one.

3. There's potential there, but you haven't quite hit it.

4. If I had a nickel for every shot I've seen on UER of peeling paint with either dramatic window light or looking straight down a hallway I'd be a rich man.

5. Nice idea, maybe stand a little to your right and get a tiny bit more of the window, but nice regardless.

6. God, I love that chair. That was my first abandoned chair. I noticed a couple weeks ago that its legs disappeared...anyway, as much as I love that chair, it's almost completely blocking what makes that shot, which is the light hitting the floor behind it. If you had set up about 2 feet higher, frame it so the chair is the bottom third or half of the frame with the light squares on the floor making up the rest of the frame, that would be brilliant. Right now, the top of the chair is lost in the black of the wall above it.

Overall, nice work, some good ideas here. It's nice to see someone try something creative with what many would consider a 'boring' space (ie: #s 1 and 3).

yep.

Me too bro... I think you have better stuff on your photo page than what you posted here; I look forward to when you post your best for critique! I have a feeling you'll find it a lot more rewarding.

im not sure what to say.... I like the pics... they make me feel good and they really show "NOTHING" at its best.... they are very plain pictures but it gives me an empty feeling when i look at them such as the shelves or the flat paint on the wall..... not your AVERAGE abandonment but definetly cool.

was that digi or film

Keep it up

Most of the photos are shot with the Canon 350d and the kit lense. A couple are shot with the Sony DSC-H1. Until i get the money for the Canon 17-85mm EF-S IS USM f4-5.6 lense for the canon thats what i got to work with. Still getting to know the camera so i mostly used the P setting or shutter priority for long exposures. Im still using the editing software that came with the 350d, have to get a hold of photoshop eventually so i can start messing around with it.
thanks for the input,
Cheers
