Taking a bit of a break, I was browsing google for tips on room entry and such. You can really find alot of UE-related information online at firefighter training sites, and the like. Here's something I just saw. For the bold.

I know, not everyone carries a haligan around, but I imagine you could use a crowbar, even a pipe fixture attached to the room itself. Just carry a ring like the one shown on the link, and a good length of rope. Possibly a quick and effective getaway. Hey if it works for fire rescue, why not us right?

I made a ladder out of wooden dowls and rope. at the top of it is a wood piece with two large hooks that can attach to a window or a fence or what ever. it had wooden dowls as steps, each about 10" apart. It's about 8 feet long and rolls up into a very portable package that can fit in a nap sack

the main problem with that is if you get caught with a crowbar or a halligan tool yer pretty much screwed.. you want to keep the very questionable gear to a min so the cops will even give you a chance to explain yourself..
It's a good idea though for people that are operating within the law

not to mention the weight of a halligan tool. that thing is solid steel, it probably weighs in the neighborhood of 8 pounds, the shackle (or clevis as it is sometimes called) weighs another half-pound or so. that's a lot of weight to lug around. add to that another 8 pounds for the 150 feet of decent climbing rope you'll need to get down (I don't know anybody who would willingly cut their rope for specific excursion) , and that's a lot more gear than i would like to carry around.
