Maybe a tighter F stop would hide the nasty lens defects. Then you wouldnt get the rainbow streaks and out of focus internal reflections and still have the sun shine in.

The second picture needs less tree, less color, and more contrast. Black and white treats low-angle shots well.

| | | | The first one doesn't do much for me. It lacks subject matter except for lens flare which I don't think makes for a very good subject. I think some more close up pictures of the vines would work really well. They're the most interesting part of that second photo, so perhaps just get rid of the rest and try shooting just the area with the vines.
