| | | Lol, I just checked out the exif info .... oops. Apparently I was using my 50mm 1.8 that day . (Could have sworn I had the kit on). First one was 15 seconds, F5.6, and 100ISO. Second was 0.8 seconds, F5, and 100ISO. And the last shot was 1 second, F5, and 100ISO as well. GTbikes, don't worry, you will Atrocity, I agree, kind of wish I had paid a little more attention to that. For the first one I may try to Pchop it out.
Thanks for the comments. -George

| | | While I like the first one, I loose interest because there's not a focus on one particular thing and I want to see more of the cart thingy and it's contents. The second one is full of terrific textures and shadows, but the strong center focus on the breaker box doesn't let me look around the rest of the image, it just sucks me in to the center and locks me there. The third is very nice also, but if you're focus/subject wasn't the graffiti you should have moved to the left or right. The doorway is a natural frame that beckons you to look at whatever is within the frame. Same goes for windows, etc. You can use such frames creatively, but you've got to be in love with whatever is inside that natural frame. Based on your published exposure times, you're probably hand holding the camera? That'd be my guess. If you use a tripod and a smaller aperature (f/22) you'll see so much more detail in focus.

| | | I could be mistaken, but is that where Silent Hill the movie was being filmed? Anywho, the second one is the strongest, in my opinion. And it IS strong. Very nice capture of the shadows and whatnot for such an upclose shot. I like that the composition is obviously level due to the straight lines throughout but that the box in the middle is skewed. It gives a nice precarious feeling without the composition suffering.

15 seconds handheld?!?! I'm a man, not a statue! lol I was actually using a tripod for all of these. In the case of these ones, I was just shooting for the sweet spot on that lens ~F5. Thanks for the comments though, I'll definitely be keeping them in mind next time I'm out. Thanks again everyone! -George

I try to never shoot lower then 1/80th if I'm not using my Tripod or Monopod(not always doable). On a bright note, I picked up my shiney new 17-40 F4L tonight .... w00t!! (It's on my camera on the desk in front of me ... I've been rubbing it )

Are you repeating the mantra while rubbing it? "Oh lens genie... Oh lens genie help me make nice pictures" Anyway, for the pictures... First one does nothing for me. Too much there to look at. Not really one stand out item to see, the bag attracts my attention, but is shunned away from the graffiti. The cart itself, stuck in the middle of the hall is nice and in focus, but is lost with the rest of the surrounding that is also in focus. Maybe a shallower depth of field would work better. The doorway shot gives me a bit of vertigo for some reason. Its a nice shot other wise. Perhaps its the angle or the distortion. The power wall I like a lot. Great lighting and capturing of the scene. A friend of mine has a black XT, I dont like the physical camera myself as I find my right hand fingers get jammed up between the lens and the grip, leaving fingernail dust on the body. Image wise, its a nice camera in my opinion.
